Spencer Webb died on after he fell and suffered a head injury after hitting his head in a cliff-diving accident.

Authorities said that Webb died while visiting western Oregon's Triangle Lake. Webb, who was 22 years old, was training to enter his fifth season at the university.

What caused Spencer Webb’s death?

Webb died on July 13, 2022 and his death appears to be accidental, according to a statement released by the Lane County Sheriffs Office. Previously reported comments from Webb's family and high school football coaches confirmed his death.

Authorities responded to a call about someone who was hurt near the rock slides at Triangle Lake around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Triangle Lake is home to several rock slides, which people use as 'natural water slides.'” These rock formations are surrounded by waterfalls and pools to swim in.

When deputies got there, they found Webb unconscious at the bottom of a steep trail. They learned from the other people at the scene that he had been playing in the area before he fell and hit his head. Webb was beyond medical help. The sheriff's office said that Webb's death was an accident. They said they did not find any evidence of foul play when they last updated the public.

Spencer Webb was an American football player and he was best known for playing the tight end position. He played college football for the Oregon Ducks. Webb was born on April 7, 2000, in Dixon, California. He was athletic from a young age, and grew up in Dixon.

He was good at swimming, basketball and football before schools started to notice how good he was at football. He played football for Christian Brothers High School in California and caught 61 passes for 1,063 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Sacramento State offered him a full-ride scholarship by his sophomore year, and other schools were also inquiring. As a senior, he was named first-team all-state by the state sports association and was named to the all-metro team by The Sacramento Bee.

He was a four-star recruit who was considered the best tight end in California by both 247 Sports and ESPN. He was one of the top 30 recruits from California, and was ranked as the number 6 tight end overall by ESPN300. At the University of Oregon, he made 31 catches for 296 yards and scored four touchdown in four seasons.
