Even though Sheldon, Amy, Bernadette, Leonard, and Howard from The Big Bang Theory don't appear in person, their voice-overs can be heard. The family of the main characters and other recurring characters made personal appearances.
Although the events of Young Sheldon took place before The Big Bang Theory, certain actors and characters who initially appeared in the latter series eventually made their way in various ways to the spin-off. Young Sheldon follows Sheldon Cooper as a young boy as he grows up in Texas with his family before moving to Pasadena and making lifelong friends. While The Big Bang Theory cast hasn’t made any in-person appearances, there have been a few cameos via voice-overs.
When The Big Bang Theory's 12-year run came to an end in 2019, Young Sheldon had already been on the air for two seasons. However, there was hardly any effort made to create a stronger narrative connection between the two series prior to The Big Bang Theory's final year. Even though the prequel's narration was provided by Jim Parsons, who played adult Sheldon, the shows largely stood on their own
Since it is pretty clear that Sheldon's family members appear in Young Sheldon, the list below concentrates on cameos from other characters.
The cameo appearances are as follows -
Penny (Kaley Cuoco)
Kaley Cuoco, who played Penny on The Big Bang Theory, was the first to contribute a voice. She wasn't "playing" her character; rather, she was acting the part. Sheldon has a nightmare about an upcoming swim test in gym class in season 3, episode 10. He hears a voice from the bacterially infected pool; it was Penny.
Amy (Mayim Bialik)
Mayim Bialik does resume her role as Amy briefly in the season 4 opening through voiceover. In that episode, there are two significant surprises. Hearing from Amy comes first. The second is that the couple names their son Leonard! The two argue back and forth about the name before declaring their love for one another.
Amy was reintroduced to the voice-over cast of Young Sheldon (season 5) in a recent episode. Sheldon begins by discussing relationships. So he asked his beautiful and wise wife, Amy, to assist him in his storytelling.
Howard (Simon Helberg)
Engineering is Sheldon's nemesis, as is well known and the reason why is shown to the fans in the fifth season. To begin it, Simon Helberg's voice can be heard. And it's not just the spectators that realise Sheldon despises engineering. Howard asks, "All this time, that's your problem with engineering?" once more at the conclusion of the episode.
Leonard (Johnny Galecki)
Young Sheldon's season 2 finale included a very brief but memorable cameo from a young Leonard staying up late at night in his New Jersey home as part of the show's tribute to the parent series' finale.
Young Cameos
The end of season two's finale, however, was particularly memorable because the camera pans to the younger versions of all those significant figures in Sheldon's life: Leonard, Penny, Howard, Bernadette, Raj, and Amy.
Bernadette (Melissa Rauch)
In the season 2 tribute episode of The Big Bang Theory, young Sheldon also paid a visit to the future microbiologist in her Yorba Linda, California, childhood home. In essence, it was Young Sheldon's appearance on The Big Bang Theory.
Professor Proton (Arthur Jeffries)
Young Sheldon had the opportunity to express in person how much he admired Professor Proton, a television personality. The character has appeared in the show's four seasons as a voice cameo, physical cameo, and, more recently, Sheldon even started a college club in his honor.
Wil Wheaton
In the teen magazine that Missy was reading in Young Sheldon season 4, episode 11, there is a picture of a young Wil. Sheldon's archenemy in the original series was Wheaton, who later became his friend.
