The Big Bang Theory theme song was written and performed by the Canadian alternative rock band called Barenaked Ladies. The producers of The Big Bang Theory, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, had attended one of their LA gigs and later approached Ed Robertson, the co-lead singer, who had performed a freestyle about the origin of the universe. Coincidentally, it turned out that Robertson had just read a book named Big Bang, and so they thought it was meant to be.
