A total of 109 photos are used in the opening sequence of The Big Bang Theory, and the song used is called The History of Everything.
The Big Bang Theory theme song was written and performed by the Canadian alternative rock band called Barenaked Ladies. The producers of The Big Bang Theory, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, had attended one of their LA gigs and later approached Ed Robertson, the co-lead singer, who had performed a freestyle about the origin of the universe. Coincidentally, it turned out that Robertson had just read a book named Big Bang, and so they thought it was meant to be.
Robertson ended up writing the song for the show to describe the formation of the universe and its history, perfectly setting the scene for Sheldon, Leonard, and their friends’ shenanigans. It's been a song loved by TBBT fans. Robertson has ended up being sued by his own band member Steven Page for not giving him the agreed percentage from the royalty of the song.

The Big Bang Theory's central characters are two physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, who are the definition of geeks. Their introverted lives change when they get a new neighbor who recently moved into an apartment across theirs. She is Penny, an attractive girl who works as a waitress and is an aspiring actress. Penny’s looks make her quickly become a part of Sheldon and Leonard's social group, which includes more than these two - the other two being equally geeky. They are Howard Wolowitz, who is an Engineer, and Raj Koothrappali who is an astrophysicist. The group expands as the seasons go on as Howard's wife Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz and Sheldon's wife Amy Farrah Fowler join them.

The Big Bang Theory Spin-off
Young Sheldon, The Big Bang Theory spin-off follows the childhood of Sheldon Cooper and his family, who is born and brought up in Texas. For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, life wasn't easy growing up in East Texas. Sheldon, being a prodigy mind capable of advanced mathematics and science, didn't always fit in a land where church and football are kings. As Sheldon tries to deal with this world, his family, which is the definition of a normal American family, must find a way to deal with him. His father, George Cooper, is a high school football coach who is finding it hard to bond with his son. Sheldon's mother, Mary, as the name suggests follows the way of the lord and tries to fit Sheldon in this real world. Sheldon's older brother, Georgie, has a tough time in high school, as he is in the same class as his odd 9-year-old brother. Finally, Sheldon's twin sister, Missy, always resents all the attention Sheldon gets, but also remains the one person who hits Sheldon with the hard truth.
