TikTok star Bella Brave has been placed in a medically induced coma, as per her mother, Kyla. The latter has been chronicling her 10-year-old daughter’s health struggles on social media for over a year now. Followers, meanwhile, continue to wait for updates about the youngster.
On July 10, 2024, Kyla took to Instagram to reveal that medical experts had told their family that Bella Brave, whose real name is Bella Thomson, would not survive the disease. The mother went on to add that she continues to be positive about Bella’s recovery.
While sharing various bible verses on Instagram, Kyla revealed that 10-year-old Bella Brave lost 4 pounds in a day as she exasperated all her energy into breathing. Doctors then advised the family to have Bella sedated. Kyla revealed:
“We waited hours before they came out to tell us if she survived intubation and remained stable.”
Kyla then revealed that her daughter’s lungs looked perfect from the inside, but “the issue is with her lungs being stiff and difficult to expand.”
Bella Brave’s mother, Kyla, revealed that the former was likely suffering from Bronchial Obliterans
On July 8, 2024, Kyla took to Instagram to reveal that her daughter was likely suffering from Bronchial Obliterans, which is a type of lung disease. It was also confirmed that the youngster had the CMV virus, which had left Bella Brave’s lungs compromised.
Kyla told her 337,000 Instagram followers that she believed that her daughter would likely be put on steroids. On July 10, 2024, Kyla posted an update and wrote in the caption:
“There has been a rapid fibrosis like deterioration of Bella’s lungs. They believe it could be an immune response. They’ve seen this post BMT but why it’s happening now and this fast is unknown to them. The one option they have left to help her lungs work again will be the large dose steroids.”
The mother also revealed yesterday that Bella Brave remained stable in the coma and that she has been talking to her daughter and playing music for her as well. She wrote:
“We are praying and believing we have stopped the fibrosis attack on her lungs, in enough time, that still allows her lungs to heal & function again. This wait is beyond unbearable.”
In December, Bella Brave was visited by actor Ryan Reynolds as she recovered from her bowel transplant surgery. The duo had a sweet interaction with a video of the same, garnering over 25 million views on social media.
During the interaction, Reynolds asked her how she was feeling about the transplant to which Bella said, “meh.” Reynolds then said:
“Meh, I like that attitude.”
As Bella fights for her life, her mother has been taking to Instagram to share the updates and their journey. Netizens have been sending supportive messages to the mother-daughter duo, who have been admired for their strength and advocacy for children’s health.
For those uninitiated, as per the Mayo Clinic, Hirschsprung's disease mostly affects the large intestine and can also cause problems with passing stool. The condition is often present at birth, similar to the case of Bella, who has been battling health issues since birth.
