On September 21, 2024, TikToker Blaire Allison took to the social media platform to call out Oprah Winfrey for using one of her videos without seeking her permission. Blaire's video was featured in Winfrey's town hall interview with 2024 Presidential elect nominee Kamala Harris on September 19, 2024.
Clarifying her stance on the same, Blaire mentioned in her TikTok video by mocking the way Kamala Harris speaks:
"To my Americans: Let me make something perfectly clear, OK? I do not support Harris for president."
Talking about her video from November 2023, Blaire stated that she got her "four seconds of fame" on Oprah's show and showcased the video she was talking about wherein she said she doesn't understand "how people are affording life right now."
Moreover, Blaire also called out Winfrey in her recent TikTok video:
"I want to be unburdened by who has been in the White House the last three and a half years. OK? As I stand here today, on this stage, standing on this stage today, the day after yesterday, I just want you to know, OK, how I stand and how I stand today is that I do not support Harris for president."
"Oprah Winfrey didn't even notify me they were using my clip": TikToker addresses her video being used for Unite for America rally
Apart from calling Oprah Winfrey out in one video, Blaire Allison made a follow-up video mentioning that no effort was taken at Winfrey or her team's end to get her permission to incorporate her video into their interview. Telling her audience about the same, Blaire said she had "no clue that the clip would be shared" when Winfrey was interviewing Kamala Harris.
Blaire expressed her desire to have rules in place wherein national television shows must require permission before using a creator's content or that the creator should be notified before it airs on National TV.
In addition to the TikTok videos, Blaire also reached out to Fox News Digital via email on September 22, 2024, claiming to be a very patriotic American. Stating her reasons for not supporting Harris, Blaire told the publication:
"I don't believe Harris puts Americans first, nor has established a plan on how she will improve Americans livelihoods."
The TikToker also said that she won't be voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential elections. She also mentioned that it was disappointing for a well-known talk show like Oprah's to not notify her about the fact that they were using her clip. Blaire stated that the incident didn't give her the time to watch the footage until she was notified about it by her community.
Currently, neither Winfrey nor her team have commented on Blaire's claims from her TikTok videos.
In the event hosted to support Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential elections, Winfrey invited multiple celebrities like Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Chris Rock, and Meryl Streep, who joined the event remotely.
Talking about her endorsement for Harris, Oprah told the 400 in-person audience members that the real feeling of hope and optimism was making a comeback and that the "new day is no longer on the horizon but is here. We're living it."
Held in Michigan, the event garnered more than 300,000 voters and Winfrey along with Harris talked about women's reproductive rights, gun violence, and middle class cost reduction.
