A picture of a new Dr Pepper Candy Corn flavor has gone viral after being posted by the Facebook page Brain Damage Studios on October 28, 2024. The image, showing the flavor in can and bottle forms, received nearly 9,000 views and thousands of comments and likes. While some reacted excitedly, others questioned its authenticity, noting that Dr Pepper has not confirmed the flavor on their official social media.
Furthermore, it is also worth noting that the Facebook page that shared the image has mentioned in its About section:
“BRAIN DAMAGE STUDIOS (BDS) is a HUMOR / PARODY page. ANY PRODUCTS HERE ARE JOKES. I am not affiliated with any company or sponsor. Nothing here is serious. Have fun! ~ AK”
Hence, the image uploaded by the Facebook page is an AI-generated image. The claims about Dr Pepper introducing a new flavour are also fake and untrue.
Dr Pepper has not introduced any Candy Corn flavour
The Facebook page's post left many believing that the news was true. However, it has now been clarified that the post is fake, and the brand has not released any new flavour.
Furthermore, this is not the first time that the Facebook page Brain Damage Studios has posted fake news about the brand’s new launch, in early October, it posted an image claiming that the beverage company had introduced a black licorice flavor. However, the same was also debunked as fake news, as the company had not spoken or advertised about the same.
Any beverage brand, including Dr Pepper, advertises its new launch on social media to inform the masses about the same, which was seen in May 2024, when they launched a new flavor for the summer, which was Creamy Coconut. The brand stated in its various social media posts that the cans and bottles for the same will be available in stores after May 1, 2024.
The brand also clarified that the flavor will be a limited-time launch, as they described the drink:
“She's smooth, she's delicious, and she tastes like summer. Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut is coming soon to stores near you for a limited-time."
Adding other specifications, the brand mentioned that they would also be introducing a sugar-free version of the same, as the drink would be available in 12-ounce cans and 20-ounce bottles.
While the post about the new flavor garnered multiple responses from the masses, it is worth noting that the post is clearly satirical in nature. It is crucial for social media users to not share such posts unless it has been confirmed by the company through an advertisement or social media post, as it can mislead the public.
