What Jeopardy show is all about?

The American game show Jeopardy! was developed by Merv Griffin. The typical question-and-answer format is reversed in this quiz competition. Contestants are given general knowledge clues in the form of answers rather than questions, and they must name the person, place, thing, or idea that the clue represents while wording each response as a question.

Jeopardy!, one of the oldest game shows ever, has been televised since 1964 and is currently in its 40th season. The program has continuously drawn a sizable audience and won numerous awards from respected television reviewers. The daily syndicated edition of Jeopardy! had broadcasted over 8,000 episodes and garnered a record of 39 Daytime Emmy Awards as well as a Peabody Award.
