Thanks to years of partnership since 2008, Jess Colmenar, the director, and Álex Pina, the screenwriter, developed the series Money Heist. After completing their project on the Spanish jail thriller, Locked Up, both left Globomedia in 2016 to establish their independent production business, Vancouver Media.

What is Money Heist about?
Setting in Madrid, a secretive guy called the "Professor" gathers a gang of 8 persons to execute an audacious scheme that entails breaking inside Spain's Royal Mint and fleeing with €984 million. By keeping 67 people as a hostage within the Mint, the squad intends to stay for eleven days to print the cash while dealing with special police forces.
Following the original robbery, the members of the organization are forced to emerge out of the underground and plan for a 2nd heist with a few new team-members, this time intending to flee with bullion from Spain's Bank while dealing with police forces and hostages.
Will there be a spinoff of Money Heist?
The squad, the La Casa de Papel, may have finally finished their heist, but this does not ensure the adventurous story is over. The spinoff of Money Heist, 'Berlin', digs into the past of heinous genius Berlin (Pedro Alonso) before he joined hands with the Professor, Tokyo, and the members of the squad to execute the largest robbery Spain and the globe have seen in history.
The release date of ‘Berlin’ is yet not confirmed, but the makers of the show said it would come in the year 2023.
