Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, with her currently ongoing Eras tour set to gross close to $5 billion in revenues. But she is also known for her love of cats and cryptic puzzles, something which her fans, known affectionately as Swifties, are now speculating she has put to use as an author.
The theory surrounds the author Elly Conway, whose upcoming novel, Argylle, was purchased back in 2021 by Apple Original Films for an on screen adaption, well before the novel was ready to be published.
Adding to the mystery is that very little is known about the author themselves, other than they were born in New York and worked as a waitress.
Fans are now theorizing that Swift herself is Elly Conway. Both Swift and Conway have Scottish Fold as their feline companion, and both carry them in the same kind of backpack carrier, something which fans were quick to point to:

Continuing with the cat in the bag side of the theory, the cat in the movie, Chip, belonging to the director of the film Matthew Vaugh’s wife Claudia Schiffer, has been posting about Taylor Swift on their Instagram.
One post referenced the lyrics from the singer's hit single, You Belong With Me and the other referred to a nightout Swift recently had with Sophie Turner:
Further hints propelling the theory is the name of Elly Conway, which is the studio where Taylor Swift recorded several of her albums, and Elly can be a dimunitive form of Alison, Swift's middle name.
Also present is the red hair of Elly Conway in the film, portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard, which is similar to what Swift sported in her video in the short film for All Too Well:
As one fan thread points out, Taylor Swift is known for her love of the brand Argylle, and Vogue published an article a decade earlier stating that Swift and Adele were producers for a similar sounding project, which was to be produced by Claudia Schiffer, owner of Chip, the cat in the movie:
The fan theorist then points out that the release date of the film coincides with the Super Bowl weekend. Taylor Swift is currently romantically linked with Travis Kelce, an American Football player for the Kansas City Chiefs and she attended his game on September 24, 2023, sitting alongside Kelce's mother, Danna Kelce.
Meanwhile, the movie's official Twitter has also been posting hints using a variation of Swift's lyrics from the song Style:

Altogether, the speculation so far has Swifties mostly convinced that Swift may be Elly Conway or be involved in some way in the upcoming film.
Time will tell whether the speculation bears some truth or is a marketing ploy by Apple to reap the benefits of Swift's current popularity.
The novel is set to be released on January 9, 2024, to be soon followed by the film itself on February 2, 2024.
