An alleged video of UnitedHealthcare CEO's shooting suspect, Luigi Mangione skateboarding has gone viral on social media. The video, shared on X on December 16, 2024, shared footage of a man in a black jacket and blue denim skateboarding along a parking lot. The video was shared by an account dedicated to the 26-year-old and showed the man jumping over a medium-height fence as he skateboarded.
However, the Community Notes on X debunked the claim and clarified that the man in the video wasn't Luigi Mangione. The man in the video is a professional skateboarder named Guy Azulay.
The caption of the post, uploaded by @LuigiCrave, stated that Luigi Mangione was "displaying his incredible skateboarding skills."
"Cultural Touchstone Luigi Mangione stuns in newly discovered footage displaying his incredible skateboarding skills!" the caption read.
The video amassed over 1.3 million views, 27K likes, and more than 1.9K reposts so far. Another X account @kirawontmiss reposted the video with a similar caption.
The prime suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's assassination, Luigi became an internet sensation after his arrest on December 9, 2024. Internet sleuths ran independent investigations to find Luigi's socials and life before the arrest.
Every new piece of supposed information about Luigi has seemingly intrigued netizens. The purported video of Luigi’s skateboarding skills drew similar attention as many claimed that the 26-year-old kept "getting cooler." Several people stated that his skateboarding skills were as good as that of a professional.
"bro is gaining aura everyday sigh", wrote one X user.
"HOW DOES HE KEEP GETTING COOLER BRO", another wondered.
"dude had a bright future ngl sucks how the healthcare system in the US is so flawed", one commented.
"This is professional skater stuff", wrote one X user.
"he’s literally got Master skill in everything", said another person.
A few netizens noted people shouldn't glorify a person who had allegedly shot and killed a person. Others expressed their dilemma over whether or not to support Luigi.
"I don’t know. People need to stop making a guy like him relevant. Dude shot a guy and gained a following haha", said one.
"Stop glorifying a murderer", commented another.
"I’m not sure if we are supposed to support or not support him", wrote one individual.
"Wowww talented in soooo many ways.. except evading the police", joked another.
Some wondered if the supposed video was captured before Luigi had his reported back surgery as he had reportedly suffered from back problems for some years.
Luigi Mangione is not featured in the viral skateboarding video
Despite the hype that Luigi received over his apparent skateboarding skills, Community Notes on X stated that the person in the clip was Guy Azulay, a professional skateboarder.
An Instagram link to the original video was also attached, directing to Guy's IG account. The video in question was uploaded on Guy Azulay's profile three days before the post was uploaded on X, and the skateboarder also credited Trevor Dare for capturing the clip.
However, several Instagram users mistook Guy for Luigi Mangione as they left comments under the post, causing the video to blow up and gain over 76K likes. Some joked Luigi had escaped custody or he found a "side quest" now. A few others expressed their honest reaction about confusing Guy with Luigi Mangione for a moment.
However, the video didn't feature Luigi Mangione, who was arrested for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO's assassination.
