The television series Wednesday is created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It is based on The Addams Family’s character Wednesday Addams. American cartoonist Charles Addams created the fictitious family known as The Addams Family. The character Wednesday Addams is played by Jenna Ortega. Tim Burton is the executive producer and directs four of the eight episodes.

Wednesday was released on Netflix on November 23 after its premiere on November 16, 2022. The reviews from critics are mostly favorable; they appreciated Ortega's acting but noted certain parallels to CW shows. It rose to third place among Netflix’s most-watched English-Language series after only two weeks of release. Wednesday had the second-most pre-release viewers of any Netflix original series on the site, behind only The Witcher, according to data from TV Time users gathered by Whip Media.

The narrative centers around Wednesday Addams. Wednesday is suspended from high school because she throws live piranhas in the school pool when the guys' water polo team is training, as vengeance for the team tormenting her brother Pugsley. This prompts her parents, Morticia Addams and Gomez, to enroll her at Vermont's Nevermore Academy, a school for truly monstrous outcasts that they also formerly attended.

Wednesday struggles to connect with her classmates because of her icy, emotionless personality and stubborn disposition, which leads her to get in trouble with the school's principal. She learns, however, that she possesses psychic powers, which enable her to crack a supernatural murder mystery.
