Supermodel Naomi Campbell has spoken up in favor of the younger generation having children. In an interview, Campbell recently said the following with respect to having children:

“It's worth it.”

The 54-year-old gave an interview to The Times, in the lead-up to her exhibition at the V&A, where she spoke about various aspects of her life, including being a model in the 90s, self-image issues, and children. Naomi Campbell expressed her concerns about the plummeting birth rate, especially among Gen Z.

Campbell said:

“I have heard a lot of young girls saying that it is too expensive to have children and they may not want them, and I have said, ‘You will change your mind. You will want to be a mum.’”

Naomi Campbell touched upon the economics of raising a child, using her mother as an example and said:

“I understand economically it is tough. But my mum had nothing and she made it work. It’s worth it. It is so amazing.”

The supermodel herself is a single mother to two children, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. Campbell used a surrogate for both births.

Speaking of surrogacy, the model said:

“I did. I hope for a better world for my children. They are 110 per cent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school. My babies are everything to me. It’s made me fear for the future.”

Naomi Campbell also spoke about mental health, in the lead-up to her exhibition at the V&A Museum in London

Naomi Campbell also spoke up about how he is impressed with the awareness the current generation has, with regard to mental health. An awareness which, she claims, was lacking in the previous generation, she said:

“Young people feel comfortable to come out and share that they have a problem. Before you were considered crazy or self-obsessed if you said, ‘I am going to see a psychologist or psychiatrist or a shrink.’ That is ignorant; there is nothing wrong in that, bettering your quality of life. There is nothing wrong with going to rehab to recover.”

The Times interview was a lead-up to the unveiling of a brand new exhibit featuring the supermodel at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, in June. This is reposted the first time the museum will celebrate the life and career of a living model.

The exhibit, called NAOMI: In Fashion, will feature important moments from the supermodel's illustrious career and also displace more than 100 iconic outfits from her personal collection. For Campbell, the favorite part of the exhibition is a pair of blue Vivienne Westwood platform shoes she wore in 1993 while taking a tumble on the catwalk.
