On January 11, 2025, American actor James Woods took to X to share a glimpse of his home and the properties restructured around it due to the LA wildfires. Comparing his property to the ones that have undergone more damage, Woods mentioned in his tweet:
"A miracle has happened. We managed to get to our property and our home, that we were told is gone forever, is still standing. In this hellish landscape “standing” is relative, but smoke and other damage is not like the utter destruction around us."
Showcasing the view from his deck area, the actor's video featured damaged structures and some smoke from the wildfires, wherein he identified the Palisades High School, his hillside, and his neighbor's property. He then showed a man called Francis in the video, stating that "we saved" their father and that he was helping put out fires on Woods' hillside.
In another tweet on the same day, James Woods expressed gratitude toward the messages that he got from everyone stating he was "happy and grateful". The actor mentioned that the area of his residence and neighborhood looks like "the dark side of the moon" calling it upsetting and gut-wrenching. He added that it is difficult to celebrate the good news of his residence surviving the LA wildfires.
James Woods comments on having "wonderful neighbors," describing LA wildfires incident
In addition to sharing an update about his house surviving the LA wildfires, James Woods shared the story of how a man called Robert Trinkkeller helped rescue his neighbor's 94-year-old father during the wildfires. Sharing an image, the actor mentioned that the man on the left was Robert Trinkkeller, and called him a "hero".
Woods said that Robert stayed behind when evacuation orders were given. He added that when the actor called his neighbor who's on the right in the picture, he came to know that the neighbor's 94-year-old father was left behind on the property by a replacement caregiver. The actor said that his wife and he couldn't get through the police barricades, so he called Robert and got through to him.
When Robert reached the house of the actor's neighbor, the residence next to it was ablaze. However, Woods had gotten through to the Fire Services and they met Robert, who guided them to the elderly father. Commenting on the incident and his gratefulness for having such neighbors, the actor mentioned:
"His son flew out immediately and today all three of us and Sara put out the fires on our hillside with buckets of pool water. If you are blessed to have such wonderful neighbors, you are luckier than you know."
Apart from sharing updates about his neighborhood and responding to some of his fans' messages checking up on him, the actor has also posted multiple tweets from a political perspective concerning the LA wildfires.
In a tweet dated January 10, 2025, James Woods criticized the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, and blamed them for making the Pacific Palisades "a scorched wasteland". The actor mentioned that to rebuild what has been lost, the first important step must be to "recall these two worthless political hacks."
Before James Woods was aware of the situation of his residence surviving the LA wildfires, the actor gave an interview with CNN on January 10, 2025, where he got emotional talking about the possibility of having lost his home to the calamity.
During the interview, Woods mentioned that one day one could be in the pool and the next day it's all gone. Saying so, the actor began crying.
