More about Johnny Marr's music career

Johnny Marr began his music career with the band The Smiths, where he remained for the first four studio albums, including the critically acclaimed second studio album, Meat Is Murder, which was released on February 11, 1985.

The album, a politically charged record focusing on corporal punishment, vegetarianism as well as child abuse, was a critical success, becoming the sole Smith record to become a chart-topper on the UK album chart.

After Marr left The Smith, he worked briefly with the English post-punk band The The, staying with them for their third and fourth studio album, before departing to form a new band, Electronic, alongside former Joy Division Bernard Sumner.

Together, the duo released three studio albums, of which the second studio album, Raise the Pressure, was the most successful album. The album, released on July 8, 1996, peaked at number 8 on the UK album chart.

Aside from his extensive band career, Johnny Marr is also known for his solo career, with his last two albums proving to be highly successful. Marr released his third studio album, Call the Comet, on June 15, 2018. The album peaked at number 5 on the Scottish album chart.

His fourth studio album, Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, was released on February 25, 2022. The album peaked at number 2 on the Scottish studio album chart, as well as number 4 on the UK album chart.
