American actor Jonathan Michael Majors was born in Santa Barbara County, California, on September 7, 1989. In 2020, he was acknowledged for his work on the HBO series “Lovecraft County,” for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has played Kang the Conqueror since 2021. However, the actor has now been fired from Marvel and has since been found guilty, via a jury, of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

How has Jonathan Majors’ career spanned?

While still a Yale student, Majors landed his first on-screen part in the ABC miniseries "When We Rise." Ken Jones, a real-life gay activist, was portrayed in the series by Majors, who met with Jones in person as part of his preparation for the part.

Majors made his feature film debut the same year, playing Corporal Henry Woodson in Scott Cooper's revisionist Western movie "Hostiles," which was written and directed by Cooper. On September 2, 2017, the movie had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. On September 10, 2017, it was also shown at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In the 2018 movies "White Boy Rick" and "Out of Blue," more roles followed. At the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, both of these movies were screened, with the latter going head-to-head for the Platform Award.

Majors gained notoriety in 2019 after starring in "The Last Black Man in San Francisco," a highly regarded independent feature film directed by Joe Talbot, for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. On January 26, 2019, the movie had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. One of the top movies of 2019 according to former US President Barack Obama.

Critics praised Majors' performance, describing it as "a mournful heartbreaker" by Manohla Dargis of The New York Times and as "deeply sensitive and charmingly left-of-center" by Rolling Stone. Additionally, Majors starred in the 2019 films "Captive State," "Gully," and "Jungleland."

Majors appeared in Spike Lee's 2020 war drama "Da 5 Bloods," alongside Chadwick Boseman and Delroy Lindo. The movie was made available on Netflix. He also gained more recognition that year for his performance as Atticus Freeman in the HBO television series "Lovecraft Country." Critics gave his performance in "Lovecraft Country" positive reviews; Vogue referred to him as "the emotional core of the show."

Majors made his television debut in "Loki," a Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series, as "He Who Remains." In the 2021 movie "The Harder They Fall," directed by Jeymes Samuel, Majors played the lead role alongside Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Regina King, and Delroy Lindo. He appeared in "Magazine Dreams" in 2023 and co-starred in "Creed III" with Michael B. Jordan.

In "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia," he played Kang the Conqueror in addition to several other character iterations. Majors has confirmed that he will play Dennis Rodman in "48 Hours in Las Vegas" by Phil Lord & Chris Miller in 2023.

Why was Jonathan Major arrested?

Jonathan Majors was reportedly arrested on March 25th, 2023, on the charges of domestic violence against his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. The charges against him included strangulation, assault, and harassment. The actor was released a while later after his arrest and his lawyer claimed he was innocent.

However, on December 18th 2023, the Marvel actor was found guilty of assault and harassment in the trial between him and Grace Jabbari who accused him of a crime. Sentencing is set to take place on February 6, 2024, and as per the law, the charges of assault and violence lead to sentencing of up to one year in prison.

The news of Jonathan Majors being found guilty in his trial against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari has spread like wildfire. Not only that, Marvel has fired the actor from starring as Kang the Conqueror in its future MCU films and the studio has pushed back the release dates for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, a film he was set to star in. Not just Marvel, but Disney, his manager and publicist also dropped the actor after he was found guilty.
