Three people were left dead and two injured in a shooting that took place in a Kansas City nightclub on early Sunday, May 21. The shooting occurred in Klymax Lounge, 4244 Indiana Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. In a report published by The Kansas City Star, one of the victims was identified to be a 41-year-old club security guard, Jason McConnell.

Police, who responded to calls about shots being fired in a nightclub, at around 1:30 am, confirmed that three people were found shot when they arrived on scene. Two were pronounced dead immediately while another victim passed soon after arriving at the hospital. One person remains in critical condition and the other is said to be stable.

The Internet community offered their condolences to the victims but also remarked on how this is becoming such a common phenomenon in America that nobody is surprised anymore.

Police confirmed that one deceased victim was found inside the lounge and another outside. The victims were provided emergency medical care immediately after the arrival of the police and were shifted to a local hospital.

All victims were confirmed to be adults but no details regarding their identities have been sent out to the public. The police have not announced any arrests as of now and are working towards identifying suspects.

Witness account about the shooting

An unnamed witness reported what she saw to The Kansas City Star. The woman, who lived near the nightclub said that she woke up to the sound of gunshots followed by a pause and more gunshots.

She claimed to have seen the body of a young woman outside the club doors being stepped over by clubgoers who tried to leave the murder scene. She reported that two more bodies were lying near a street lamp and another was stretchered out from over a hill.

The shooting was said to have taken place right after the performance of local rapper Nutty Still Gassin’.

The Kansas City police are investigating the shooting and have asked people who have any information to step up. They have set a reward of $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
