Social media users had a lot to say about Twitter (now known as X) co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey's recent appearance in Kenya. Dorsey attended the Africa Bitcoin Conference 2024, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from December 9 to 11. While at the conference, Dorsey spoke about cryptocurrency’s capacity to transform economies like Africa's.

Images of Dorsey from the event went viral on social media, as netizens were captivated by the Twitter co-founder's appearance. Dorsey sported a Nirvana-themed t-shirt that said, 'Satoshi,' a nod to Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto, paired with simple black pants and some casual half shoes. He also wore a grey cap and had a long semi-grey beard.

Netizens were seemingly fascinated by Dorsey's appearance, as they compared it with the amount of money he has. One X user, @setfragil1, wrote:

"Life is simple when you have money. You don't worry yourself too much on some things."

Similar reactions followed as social media users noted how Jack Dorsey's look did not reflect his $5 billion-plus net worth. Netizens felt like Dorsey's wealth allowed him to "stop dressing to impress." Here are a few more reactions on X:

"Worth $5.7 billion but rocking the fit of a dude who trades mushrooms for gas money and thinks showers are a capitalist scam," joked one X user.
"There is how rich you get, you stop dressing to impress people," noted another user.
"Don’t judge a billionaire by their wardrobe," proclaimed one netizen.
"So that’s how you dress when you have FU money," remarked another.

A few other social media users expressed their dream of having Dorsey's lifestyle and felt like the Twitter co-founder had gone beyond self-actualization.

"I dream of that 'Right, that's money sorted, let's go and do s**t' lifestyle," said one netizen.
"He is past self actualization, material stuff don't excite him anymore... It's a great level to reach," added another.
"After earning so much, they all find out that it's better to live simple," commented yet another user.

"Internet is where Africa’s future lies": Jack Dorsey

As aforementioned, Twitter (now known as X) co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa Bitcoin Conference 2024. According to The Africa Logistics' December 11 report, Dorsey spoke at the conference about the potential of cryptocurrency to solve a slew of challenges faced by Africa.

This included inflation, global market access, and financial exclusion. Dorsey further talked about how the decentralized nature of Bitcoin could allow Africa's unbanked individuals to receive financial services, bypassing traditional banking infrastructure. The Africa Logistics quoted Dorsey, writing:

"Bitcoin is the best money for the internet, and the internet is where Africa’s future lies."

Jack Dorsey added:

"The leapfrog potential in Africa is unprecedented. With Bitcoin, Africa can move from being a recipient of aid to becoming a leader in financial innovation."

Jack Dorsey had previously pledged to attend this year's Africa Bitcoin Conference, during a Bitcoin conference held in Madeira, Portugal, back in April. This is the third edition of the annual event, while Dorsey also attended the event's first iteration in 2022, which took place in Ghana.
