Loki season 2 has been one of the most anticipated shows of 2023 out of Marvel. It will mark the debut of Everything Everywhere All At Once actor Ke Huy Quan and bring back many old faces and characters like Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Jonathan Majors (Kang), Owen Wilson (Mobius), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Ravonna Renslayer), Wunmi Mosaku (Hunter B-15), Eugene Cordero (Hunter K-5E), Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie), and many others.

Loki season 2 episode 2 was full of power-packed performances, and Sylvie’s character came out on top of everything. At the end of Loki season 2, episode 2, it is revealed that Sylvie holds the ultimate trump card - a keepsake from He Who Remains.

What is Sylvie holding at the end of Loki season 2 episode 2?

Now that Loki has stopped slipping in time in Loki season 2, he has another mission in mind - to get to Sylvie before the TVA does. Their reunion takes place at a McDonald's of all places, and Sylvie assures Loki that she is happy with her life. However, if the fans look at the scene more closely during the end of Loki season 2 episode 2, it might not seem all true.

In the last few seconds of Loki season 2 episode 2, Sylvie’s colleague asks her if she will turn up the next day, and she responds yes. Before the scene ends, we see Sylvie fiddling with something in her hand and deep in thought. It is being seen in Loki season 2 as He Who Remains's time-twisting bangle that is super powerful as it acts as both a TemPad and a Time Twister.

In the Loki universe, a TemPad helps you open time-crossing portals, and a Time Twister allows you to teleport. Since He Who Remains had much higher technologies than the TVA agents, it can be detrimental to the fate and stability of the TVA and, essentially, the multiverse.

It is already clear from Loki Season 2 Episode 2 that Sylvie will play a big role in the TVA and the entire season. Although she enjoys her freedom working at a McDonald's, Loki sees her before he time-slipped into the future, which can again bring her toe to toe with the TVA.

What do the production members say about the latest development in Loki season 2 episode 2?

Director Dan Deleeuw takes to GamesRadar to express his opinion about Sylvie and her newfound position in Loki season 2 episode 2:

"She's still a Loki. If she's got the keys to the universe, the keys to the multiverse, she's not gonna give that up. I think she truly was happy on the timeline; I don't know how much manipulation has been going on behind the scenes, but... yeah…”

He went on to continue:

"I think she always suspected this might come back, and I think that ties in with a lot of the reaction to Loki in the McDonald's as well. She knew she was on borrowed time, I think, and kept it because she knew, eventually, Loki would show or some other Loki would show up, some other variant of He Who Remains or something like that, that she'd have to ultimately deal with."

Season 1 director Kate Herron previously talked to The Hollywood Reporter on this tech and gave a hint.

"So basically, it's meant to be a futuristic version of the TVA tech. So that was the fun idea of it. When He Who Remains tells his story about his other variants meeting, you see bits of the TVA technology. So our idea was that it does both things.”

She continued to say:

"With the TVA technology, you see that the Time Twister hooks into the TemPad, but it's these two separate, clunky things. But whereas with He Who Remains, he has more advanced technology than the TVA So it has both functions, basically, which we see him use."

She added:

The difference is that he's in control of the twist; it's twisting him. Whereas when we see the TVA use the Time Twister, it's with a Time Collar as they're controlling a prisoner."
