The 2023 Primetime Emmys are finally here, after the long delay caused by the writer's and actors' strike that halted much of Hollywood. The prestigious award show, which is currently in its 75th edition and always airs mid-September, was dragged till January 2024, affected by the absence of those who make the show.
The 2023 Primetime Emmys will be hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson and air on January 15, 2024, on Fox, at 8 pm ET, and across several other channels. Viewers feel it will be fun to watch Anthony hosting, as the star is an experienced presenter who previously hosted the ABC game show To Tell the Truth and the NAACP Image Awards, from 2014 to 2022.
Further, fans also believe there's little doubt about his ability to spark laughter, given that he is a stand-up comedian, and is best known for his comedic roles on the NBC crime drama Law & Order and the sitcom Guys with Kids, among others.
Who is Anthony Anderson, the host of the 75th Primetime Emmys?
Anthony Anderson was born in Compton, California, on August 15, 1970, and the star is currently 53 years old. Since his childhood, he was nicknamed "Tugga" because of his inability to pronounce the word sugar.
Anthony studied Performing Arts at the Magnet's class of 1988 from Hollywood High School. He also went to Howard University in Washington DC to major in theater but had to quit in his junior year because he faced financial problems and struggled to keep up with the fees.
Interestingly, Anthony returned to the University nearly three decades later, inspired by his son Nathan's acceptance to the university. He finished his degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts in 2022.
Anthony Anderson has some big movies and shows to his credit, owing to his comedic prowess and great performing skills. He has acted in movies like The Departed, Kangaroo Jack, Transformers, and more. He also appeared on TV shows like K-Ville, Black-ish, and All About Andersons. Black-ish began airing in 2014 and was nominated for 11 Primetime Emmys, and 3 Golden Globes during its run.
