“A household name fr”: Reply 1988 actress Lee Hye-ri forgets BTS members’ names in a game, ARMYs find it adorable

Actress Lee Hye-ri, popular for her role in Reply 1988, found it difficult to list all seven BTS members’ names in 10 seconds on her variety show HMLYCP, aka HyeMiLeeYeChaePa, leading to an adorable response from the ARMY fandom.

HMLYCP is a reality-variety show that features six celebrities - Lee Hye-ri, (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon, Leejung Lee, Choi Yena, LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Chaewon, and Patricia. In a clip from episode 9 released on May 7, 2023, the Reply 1988 actress mentioned that she was a BTS ARMY after failing in a game.

Lee Hye-ri had to name all seven members of the septet in 10 seconds. She could manage to name only five members before her mind went blank and she fell to the ground. Behind her, the remaining HMLYCP members screamed in disbelief.

Including questions about one of South Korea’s most treasured artists, the K-pop septet BTS, in games can either have good or bad reactions. In the past, A-list actor Hyun Bin requested Na PD from The Game Caterers to add a mosaic effect on his face after he failed to guess Jimin’s name.

In a Run BTS collaboration with The Game Caterers, Jin jokingly threatened Na PD with ARMY’s power and made him accept an answer during the Character Quiz.

Similarly, people are sometimes wary of mentioning the Butter singers. In the most recent case, the cast of variety show HMLYCP jokingly wondered if episode 9 would be their last time filming the show because of Lee Hye-ri. During a game, the 28-year-old actress was challenged to name all seven members of BTS in 10 seconds.

However, the actress could only name RM, SUGA, j-hope, V, and Jung Kook. When the actress failed to mention Jin and Jimin, the remaining cast members began asking for a time out and requested that the scene be cut out from the final version.

Responding to the actress' failure to name all the members, Leejung Lee wondered out loud if it was their last recording. As the members kept discussing their disbelief, Choi Yena said that knowing the BTS members’ name was like “a national anthem,” making everyone laugh out loud.

While the HMCLYP cast believed the scene would invite the wrath of the ARMY fandom, they were soon proven false. Fans loved the cast members’ response and found Lee Hye-ri’s ability of being unable to reply adorable.

The ARMY fandom especially liked the way the editors included Jin and Jimin’s introduction, especially the latter’s, as they added his historic achievement of scoring No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. Take a look at how fans reacted below:
