The comedian discussed the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and his alleged shooter, Luigi Mangione. Netizens have since flooded the internet with Jonah Hill memes as Rock compared the alleged assassin to the Hollywood star.

Chris Rock did not hold back while cracking jokes about Thompson’s death and the unexpected popularity of the alleged shooter, Mangione. Rock commented:

“Everybody’s worried, I mean we got Luigi you know that’s good. I really feel sorry for the family. I mean, everybody is fixated on how good this guy looks. If he looked like Jonah Hill no one would care. They’d already given him the chair already. He’d be dead, OK?”

Chris Rock then said that Luigi Mangione allegedly “killed a man” who had children of his own. Rock said:

“I mean, I have condolences… I have real condolences for the health care CEO. This is a real person, you know. But you also got to go. “You know, sometimes drug dealers get shot.” I mean, you’ve seen The Wire right?”

Law enforcement shares update on the UnitedHealthcare CEO case as Chris Rock shares remarks on SNL

As new details regarding the shooting of Brian Thompson emerge, it has been revealed that Luigi Mangione was never a client of UnitedHealthcare. New York Police Department’s Chief of Detective Joseph Kenny told NBC that there was “no indication” of Mangione being connected to the organization. Kenny said:

“He [Luigi Mangione] does mention that it [UnitedHealthcare] is the fifth largest corporation in the US, which would make it the largest healthcare organization in the country. So that’s possibly why he targeted the company… He had prior knowledge that the conference was taking place on that date, at that location.”

Kenny also stated that the attack was likely due to the “size and influence” of the corporation.

Brian Thompson was shot on December 4. Following a five-day manhunt for the suspect, the University of Pennsylvania graduate was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Mangione was denied bail and remains in custody as he faces multiple charges, including murder.
