On May 22, 2023, American singer Peder Elias uploaded a TikTok video revealing the message that ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo sent him. The video explained his collaboration with the K-pop artist where he personally narrated how their cover of Bonfire came about. From what Peder Elias described, the reason of their collaboration came to fruition because of his manager, who also works with ASTRO occasionally.
As the manager got back to Peder Elias after working with ASTRO on a song, she also carried along the message that Cha Eun-woo is a huge fan of his. Following which, the ASTRO singer also reached out to him through Instagram DMs. After the same, the artist checked his message from Eun-woo, and the conversation snowballed into them covering Bonfire.

In November of last year, ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo and Peder Elias surprised fans with their collaborative cover of Bonfire, which was originally written and released by Peder. Alongside the cover, they also released a behind-the-scenes video where the K-pop idol first revealed that he was not only a big fan of the artist but also sent him a personal Instagram DM expressing the same.
"I personally like the songs by an artist called Peder Elias, so I'm here to do a cover with him. I'm a bit shy but was it six months ago? eight months ago? I liked his song so I sent him a direct message. I sent it to him but I didn't get a reply so I kept waiting."
More of the background story from Peder Elias' side was shared through his recently released TikTok video. Given that Peder's manager also often works with K-pop artists, when the singer visited South Korea to attend a concert, the manager worked with ASTRO. During their time together, they revealed that Cha Eun-woo messaged Peder through Instagram but never got a reply back.
The message was as expected by fans given Eun-woo's introverted and shy nature. Here's what the Instagram DM said as per the screenshot the American singer revealed through his TikTok.
"Hello I'm big fan of ur song. I heard that u come to korea this year. Welcome."
However, with the manager's communication between the two, they were successfully able to arrange meetings to bring together a fruitful collaboration. Additionally, the artist also expressed that he found Cha Eun-woo to be a great guy. While their face-to-face interaction was short this time, they've apparently been in the talks of hanging out more the next time Peder visits Korea.
Given that the fans really enjoyed their collaborative cover of Bonfire by the two singers, they can't help but hope for more musical content.
