A TikTok content creator, @equanaaa, recently went viral for consuming 48 oysters on a first date, leading her date to sneak out and leaving her stuck with a $184.87 bill. Equana posted the video on October 12, narrating her experience while eating at Fontaine’s Oyster House in Atlanta.

Oysters are considered an aphrodisiac by many, signifying it is a food that enhances desire. The origin of this theory traces back to the 18th-century Italian writer Giacomo Girolamo Casanova, who was known to eat these bivalve mollusks for breakfast to heighten his libido. Casanova penned down his rendezvous, where he seduced two convent women with oysters and flirtation.

Definitive scientific evidence is still out on this belief, but certain studies have concluded that these mollusks have two unusual amino acids that increase testosterone production. Testosterone is a hormone that is scientifically proven to stimulate libido in humans. The desire in question that this shellfish supposedly triggers can also be the sensuality of relishing the food itself.

However, after TikTok creator Equana's video, netizens wondered if it was pleasant for her to eat so many oysters on the very first date and film it. Though she did not gorge herself on the food in front of the camera, the slurping noises made many people uncomfortable.

Internet erupts in a hilarious fit as woman recounts eating 48 oysters on first date

The TikTok creator, Equana, claimed at the beginning of the video that a man was pestering her to go out with him for quite some time, and she took him up on the offer one day when she finally had some free time. Equana suggested they go to Fontaine's, saying the restaurant offers oysters at $15 a dozen on Tuesdays. Moreover, she said she could at least gain some content out of the date.

However, it seemed that throughout the date, Equana proceeded to film the meal that she got to eat, squeezing lemon on top of the oysters, adding some Tabasco, and then slurping them down very audibly behind the lens. In addition to 48 oysters, Equana also ordered steamed red potatoes and crab cakes.

Then she said that her alleged date excused himself to go to the bathroom but never returned. She also shared a screenshot of a text message exchange between them where she wrote to him:

X user @MotorCityVIXEN reposted the video and wrote that it was too funny not to share. Most people in the comments roasted the TikTok creator for ordering such a large amount of food and then continued to be on her phone, recording everything.

They assumed that Equana probably did not even speak to her date properly or pay enough attention to him, which was quite discourteous. Some people claimed that if she had continued to eat so much in front of them, they would have ditched her too.
