"Are we supposed to be shocked": Internet calls out Azealia Banks after she reveals she voted for Trump despite declaring support for Kamala

Singer Azealia Bank is facing criticism after she revealed that she voted for Donald Trump despite previously declaring her support for Kamala Harris On Wednesday, November 6, the rapper, who declared last year that she would support Harris' Republican opponent Donald Trump, made the same suggestion on X.

She uploaded a photo of what looked like a ballot paper that apparently denoted that she voted for the former US President. She further asserted in the caption:

“Lmao I lied, I voted for Trump yesterday.”

The tweet came a day after Banks switched her endorsement from Donald Trump to Kamala Harris before the 2024 election. Banks announced her shift in allegiance in a series of tweets on November 4, claiming that Trump was "hell bent on Elon [Musk] and RFK."

Elon Musk, whom she referred to as an "overrated Ketamine addict," should not be allowed in American politics, she said, claiming that she would vote for Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, when her ballot paper tweet went viral, people took to X to express their opinions about the whole thing. One X user even said that Banks' behavior is not shocking.

“Are we supposed to be shocked,” one netizen wrote.

While one X user claimed that her vote went to “trash”, another one said that she alienated the people who were supporting her.

“Girl New York was blue anyways, your vote went to the trash,” one user commented.

“Great job alienating the only people who were actually still supporting you and pulling for your success,” said another one.

On the other hand, many netizens pointed out that it's actually “illegal” to upload a photo of the ballot paper, referring to her post. One even claimed that it might not be her ballot as well.

“That’s not ur ballot,” one X user stated.

“Mind you it’s illegal to take a photo of your ballot after you filled it out in New York State,” another one pointed out.

Azealia Banks switched her endorsement from Trump to Harris shortly before the election

On Monday, November 4, Azealia Banks launched an unprecedented attack on Elon Musk by declaring on X that, despite her misgivings about the Democratic presidential candidate, she would be voting for Kamala Harris in the US election. She also cautioned her supporters against giving Musk any more power over American politics.

She went on to say that "the DNC can and will just steal it like they did in 2020; they don't need to import people to win an election." She then added:

“I will be Voting For Kamala Harris tomorrow because Elon Musk... belongs no where near American Politics. The End.”

She also posted several tweets explaining her reasons for supporting Kamala Harris. Despite calling Tim Walz "trash" and Kamala Harris "stupid and incoherent" in her initial post, Banks acknowledged that preventing Musk from gaining political power in the nation was "tantamount to any issue on the table."

Additionally, she demeaned Donald Trump's backing of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom she referred to as "zombie a*s." Trump's meddling with China further allegedly enraged Azealia Banks, who said that China was "NOT to be f**ced with," since without it, America and the rest of the world would supposedly go hungry.

Banks’s endorsement of Harris comes a year after she told The Standard in an interview on November 17, 2023, that she will support Trump in the 2024 election because "he's f*cking funny." She further said at the time:

“He’s been through how many bankruptcies? How many wives? How many television shows? Seriously, nothing can take him down.”

Since last year the rapper has changed her presidential endorsement multiple times. She first supported Donald, then announced that she would vote for Harris, before finally claiming that she voted for the Republican candidate.
