The NYPD has yet again released a new photo of the alleged suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO on December 7. They also released a photo of his backpack, which reportedly had Monopoly money and a jacket inside.
Two further images of the alleged suspect, which seemed to be taken from a camera installed inside a taxi, were made public by police on Saturday. In the first, he is seen outside the car, and in the second, he is seen peering through the partition that separates the front of the cab from the back seat. In both, a blue, medical-style mask partially hides his face.
This isn’t the first time the authorities released the photo of the alleged suspect. On December 6, they released the photo of another person and tagged him as the alleged shooter.
The police started looking for the suspect after a masked assailant fatally shot Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO. This happened outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel on early Wednesday, December 4.
Now, once this new photo went viral, netizens took to @PopBase’s X post to express their opinion about the whole thing. One even asked if the authorities were sure about the suspect this time.
“Are they sure this time,” wrote one netizen.
Others also said similar things as one alleged if they were sure the suspect was already caught. Another one claimed that he was too smart for the police and that he should be sent to jail.
“Wait, he was caught?” asked one in doubt.
“All these pictures you would think he was caught but nah his too smart for that,” said another person.
“Send him to jail,” wrote one netizen.
Meanwhile, other netizens joked about the whole thing and said that he “looks like every other man.” One even said that the authorities are showing random white men, claiming them as the suspects.
“Now that I kinda see him, he looks like every other man,” said another X user.
“They're just showing any random light skinned man in a hoodie and a mask,” alleged one user.
“They got the winner of the look alike contest,” humorously wrote another one.
NYPD has also updated on the course of the investigation regarding the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO
While looking for the murderer of Brian Thompson, UnitedHealthcare CEO, investigators reported that the shooter is still at large despite the abundance of evidence they have. Police are certain that it was a targeted attack rather than an act of randomness, but they do not know who he is, where he is, or why he did it.
They also don't know his name, but according to the AP News story from December 8, they had seen him grinning on a hostel surveillance video. They further said that the FBI is also offering a $50k reward for information.
Additionally, the alleged killer's electric bike and the rifle used in the murder remained elusive to investigators as of Saturday.
AP news further reported on December 7 that the UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect allegedly went on foot at Columbus Avenue and West 178th Street and got a taxi. The cab reportedly took him north to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station where he supposedly left NYC.
As per ABC News’s Saturday report, in an attempt to apprehend the unnamed fugitive, investigators spent a fourth day searching the city for clues and evidence. Furthermore, on Friday evening, December 6, officers investigated a pond in Central Park next to Bethesda Fountain, where the suspect's backpack was discovered.
Moreover, according to a December 8 ABC News story, some investigators from New York arrived in Atlanta on Saturday in response to tips regarding the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO killer. The Atlanta Police Department acknowledged that the New York squad had arrived, but they would not elaborate.
As per the same ABC News story, as of Saturday night, no identification had been made, despite the NYPD's belief that it is making significant improvements regarding the UnitedHealthcare CEO case.
