Netizens have reacted strongly after author Alec Lace's disrespectful comments about Vice President Kamala Harris in a recent talk on Fox Business. On July 5, Alec Lace spoke on Fox Business, calling Kamala Harris the "original Hawk Tuah Girl," a term that has alleged misogynistic and disrespectful implications. He also referred to Harris as "DEI President."
The clip featuring Lace's comments went viral on social media, and many people took to X to criticize the author's alleged disrespectful remark about the potential Democratic presidential candidate. Here are some of the reactions:
"When you have nothing to say you end up with comments that end your career," an X user wrote.
"He’s proud of it. Pinned tweet." another used claimed, sharing a screenshot of Lace pinning the video containing his viral comment.
"Host of First Class Fatherhood lol," a user added.
"Wildly inappropriate! He should apologize!" a netizen quipped.
The reactions continued to flow in as netizens raised concerns about the alleged sexism associated with Lace's comment. Many demanded that Fox News publicly apologize for it.
"How about an on air apology from @FoxNews @FoxBusiness to VP Kamala Harris and ALL WOMEN for allowing such a misogynistic comment to be aired?" an individual asked.
"He’s just mad he can’t put his feet on the ground in that chair. Just short and mean." a user commented.
""That was tough. That was harsh." FoxTalk for you're fired." an individual shared.
As per Diario AS, the phrase "Hawk Tuah girl" originated from a viral video featuring internet influencer Hailey Welch. The term has alleged sexual connotations, referring to spitting during oral sex.
Alex Lace defended his statement about Kamala Harris despite internet backlash
Although Alec Lace's video clip featuring his comment about Kamala Harris went viral, the author defended his statements soon after on X. He pointed out that his interview took place on July 5, much before Biden stepped down as the Democratic Presidential candidate and endorsed Harris in his place.
Lace also added that comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler is worse than his comparison of Harris to the "Hawk Tuah girl."
"Since this video has gone viral let me clarify 2 things: 1. This originally aired on July 5th prior to Joe Biden stepping aside. 2. Comparing Donald Trump to Hitler is dangerous and 100x worse than comparing Kamala Harris to the Hawk Tuah girl," he tweeted.
Further, in a conversation with TMZ, Lace claimed that his statement was aimed to critique the Biden-Harris administration in general, and he is not concerned whether his statements about the Vice President are "controversial."
"Kamala Harris and the Biden administration are destroying our country. The last thing I’m worried about is saying the quiet part out loud about how Kamala got where she is today. I’m more concerned with how the MSM has radicalized people with their dangerous rhetoric about President Donald Trump which almost got him killed," he said.
Alec Lace has been active on his X since his viral comment and continues to support Donald Trump over the Democrats. The author has not been back on Fox Business since July 5.
Meanwhile, Harris has yet to be declared the official Democratic presidential candidate.
