Shameik Moore left the internet in a frenzy after seemingly responding to Hailee Steinfeld’s engagement announcement. The latter took to Instagram on Saturday, November 30, to announce that she and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen were to tie the knot. Moore seemed to have reacted to the same in a tweet.
Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen's social media post showed Josh proposing on one knee amid candles, flowers, and a seaside backdrop, with Hailee kissing her now-fiancé.
The same day, Shameik Moore took to X to tweet:
“There’s still more people to meet. More opportunities to come. And more chances to try. Live, learn, and apply.
The tweet had amassed over 3.6 million views at the time of writing this article.
Although Moore tends to tweet philosophical remarks without context, many have speculated that the tweet was directed at Steinfeld, considering that the duo played lovers in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Fans frequently create video edits of the two being “shipped” together.
Netizens have since responded to Shameik Moore’s tweet hilariously. One X user said:
Several others expressed similar sentiments with reactions reading:
“Shameik Moore bout to give us his best Miles Morales performance,” an X user said.
“See you at the gym big dawg,” another platform user said.
“Don’t be sad now,” a netizen commented.
It is worth noting that neither Moore nor Steinfeld ever made it seem like they were romantically involved in real life. Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“I’m with you bro you will recover,” an X user said.
“That’s the spirit,” another platform user commented.
“This timing can’t be a coincidence,” a netizen said.
Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld first sparked dating rumors back in May 2023 after being spotted together numerous times in New York City. Meanwhile, other reactions read:
“Bro thought he actually had a chance,” another netizen said.
“Dude is manifesting hard today,” a platform user said.
“Yall been twisting my words” — Shameik Moore takes to X to clear rumors of him tweeting about Hailee Steinfeld
After the tweet garnered immense traction online, the 29-year-old actor took to X to express shock over the same by saying it is “crazy” what netizens decided to “engage” with online.
In another tweet, Shameik Moore said:
“Yall been twisting my words and fu*kin wit my name for years now.”
Notably, Steinfeld and Allen made their first public appearance together in October 2023 by attending the National Hockey League’s Buffalo Sabres game with the New York Rangers. Last year, Allen made his relationship with the actress official by sharing a carousel of images on Instagram, one of which included the duo hugging each other in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Steinfeld had previously shared in an Us Weekly interview that she prefers to keep her private life to herself. She said last year:
“I am a very private person. I feel so lucky that [fans] care enough about me to know what I’m doing every second of every day, but I think that sometimes it’s hard for people in general to realize that there are boundaries to a person’s life and personal life.
Prior to dating Allen, Steinfeld was in a relationship with Niall Horan in 2018. Allen previously dated Brittany Williams.
