Internet personality Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., a.k.a. DDG, recently suggested he lived paycheck to paycheck to maintain his lifestyle. During a Twitch livestream on Sunday, April 20, 2025, the 27-year-old YouTuber raised rumors claiming he "bought" views on the platform.

Refuting the claims, Darryl noted that although he made money now, it wasn't the case initially. Seeing it grow as a business, DDG explained that he prioritized making content as it benefited his lifestyle. He elaborated:

"I have to make money (as) my bills are high... My bills high as sh*t. Like n**ga, I don't work, I'm gonna go broke ASAP. Like, n**ga, I have to work. I don't have a choice."

The YouTuber continued to list his expenses, which include having multiple properties and cars, family, and his young son, Halo.

"If you can’t put your luxurious life aside to be in a position that you can’t ever be broke that’s on you," one stated.
"Living check to check and you're not poor...that's a literal self made problem," another added.
"Admitting to having terrible money management is stupid," a user noted.

Others brought up the 27-year-old's offer to give away two Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL) last October to criticize him.

"Why he giving away free BBL to random women???" one rhetorically questioned.
"Ya believe anything these streamers say. Whole time he just clip farming content," another remarked.
"Free BBL giveaways is crazy af," a person wrote.

"I'm nowhere near broke, not even close"- DDG clarifies his financial situation after facing backlash online

In his Twitch livestream on Sunday, DDG revealed that he enjoyed making content on the platform but never "brought views." He noted that his passion was music, but he had been creating content on Twitch, which helped him maintain his luxurious lifestyle. Noting that people don't realize he worked hard because of his success, he stated:

"I spend a lot of money. And when you spend money, you make money. Thats just how it goes."

In response to the backlash, DDG clarified his finances in a separate live stream earlier in the day. During the Twitch stream, he pulled up @Raindropsmedia1's X post, reading the comments and addressing the claims made under the comments.

DDG also denied giving away free BBLs last October, noting that the offer was nonsurgical and temporary. He explained that he called off the giveaway after the move drew criticism online.

Referencing another comment questioning why the YouTuber gifted his son a Ferrari F8 on his birthday, the 27-year-old denied buying the car. In an Instagram post celebrating Halo's birthday, he shared pictures of them in the car.

"Why would I buy a 1-year-old a Ferrari," an exasperated DDG exclaimed in his livestream.

Noting that a baby can't get a license or drive a car, he explained he brought it for "pictures." At one point, the YouTuber brought up comments he made in his previous livestream to clarify he wasn't "broke." He said:

"I'm nowhere near broke, not even close," adding, "I can literally not stream for years, not post for years, not drop music for years and years... and not be broke."

Noting that he didn't like "flex(ing) money," he explained that his bills were nowhere near the money he made. He asserted that he wouldn't be spending on his lifestyle if he couldn't afford it.

DDG's comments come just a month after he jokingly suggested to Michigan-born streamer Speedy Morman that his net worth was near $100 million. During his appearance on Complex's 360 With Speedy, he was asked to clarify if his fortune was $8 million, prompting him to quip it was "way off." He then claimed it was "$80 million off" before clarifying:

"Yeah, I'm a Libra though, (We) be lying and sh*t."

At the time, he explained that he hoped to have a fortune worth $100 million and added that he was working hard towards this goal.
