Axios reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook was planning to donate $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee. The second inauguration will be taking place on January 20 for the former POTUS's second presidential term. Netizens have since taken to social media to react to the announcement.
Anxious reported that anonymous sources told them that Tim Cook is personally donating the aforementioned amount to the committee. As per Forbes, the executive is worth nearly $2.3 billion. The donation will come after Cook met Trump multiple times to build a relationship with him.
The news outlet claimed that Tim Cook decided to do so in the “spirit of unity.” As per MSN, the company leader has engaged with both Democratic and Republican candidates in the past.
The news outlet also reported that he had previously donated $236,000 to Hillary Clinton’s Victory Fund in 2016.

Donald Trump also tapped Elon Musk to co-head his newly created Department of Government Efficiency. According to Bloomberg, Citadel CEO Ken Griffin is also reportedly planning to donate $1 million.
The Journal reported that Jeff Bezos will be making a donation of the same amount alongside OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
CNBC reported that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta had already donated to the inaugural fund.
The Independent also shared that car companies like General Motors, Ford, and Toyota are also planning to donate a million dollars each to the fund.
Before donating to Trump’s inaugural committee fundraiser, Tim Cook had also hosted a fundraiser for former Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan and gave $7,100 to his campaign. He also donated to Republica Rob Portman back in 2015.
