Tech giant Elon Musk introduced Optimus, a next-generation humanoid robot, on October 10. Musk launched the robot at Tesla's “We, Robot” event on Thursday night at the Warner Bros. studio outside of Los Angeles.

While talking about the robot's potential, Elon Musk said:

"What can it do? It can basically do anything you want. It can be a teacher, babysit your kids, it can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do."

Once this news went public, people took to X to express their opinions on Optimus. Most of them wrote humorous comments with someone asking if the robot could argue with their wife.

“Can it argue for me with my wife," one X user said.

Some took the invention seriously, calling it "crazy", while others compared it with movies that had robots.

“'Learning to be as human as you are' is crazy," wrote one netizen.
“I, Robot (2004)," commented another user, referring to the Will Smith movie, where he was a robot.
“Now i know that small talk with a robot will be as cringe as with a human," joked one user.

On the other hand, some people were skeptical about the whole thing. They believed that Optimus was a human dressed as a robot and claimed that a human was "speaking through the bot."

“Well I do have to tell you that hes talking to a human speaking through the bot," claimed one X user.
“A conversation between a human and a human talking through a robot, you mean. tech ppl are literally infants who think elmo is talking to them through the television screen," someone else remarked.
“He’s just talking to a human through a robot interface. You can’t fool me," wrote another one.

Musk further said that the Optimus robot will also be able to perform certain tasks, such as moving boxes in warehouses, interacting with children, and performing household duties.

With increased hand mobility, upgraded sensors, and higher walking speeds, the robot can handle tasks like folding shirts. Dubbed as "humanoid friend" or "autonomous assistant" by Tesla in the viral event, Elon Musk went on to say that he believed that there was an "80% probability of good" from the widespread use of robots.

Furthermore, Musk stated that the the robots will cost between $20,000 and $30,000, once they start mass producing them. He continued:

"I think this will be the biggest product ever, of any kind. I think everyone is going to want their Optimus buddy, maybe two."

While still under development, Elon Musk stated that he has aimed to dominate the future of robotics. Along with Optimus, Musk also introduced the Cybercab robotaxi and the Robovan at the same event. These new models represent Tesla's recent advancement in autonomous driving technology.
