Well-known businessman Mark Cuban has recently expressed his interest in purchasing Twitter, currently known as X, from Elon Musk along with Fox News. In an interview with Wired on September 12, 2024, the investor said:
"You buy Fox News. If I had enough money to do it, which I don't, I'd buy it in a heartbeat."
Mark Cuban even elaborated on how he could purchase Fox News, saying that the price would be $22 billion with a payment of a 50% premium. He added that there will be an additional spending of $2 billion for some extra changes and continued:
"You can sell some things off. So maybe it's $15 billion, $20 billion net. I don't have $15 or $20 billion in cash sitting around."
Furthermore, Cuban said that Elon Musk won't sell X since there is no reason for him to do so. On the other hand, netizens took to the comments section of a post shared by Pop Crave on X to share their responses to Cuban's statement. One of them seemingly asked for help for Mark and wrote:
Similar reactions continued in the post, with people claiming that they would help Mark Cuban to buy the platform. Others shared their opinion on how Cuban can bring changes.
"Mark I'm begging you that if you buy this and turn it back into twitter only good things will come your", a user wrote.
"He should tell us how much more he needs and we will be donating", another user wrote.
"I trust him more than Elon", a third user wrote.
A few users disagreed with what Cuban said.
"The only person that should be buying X back is Jack", a reaction read.
"He can't even afford truth social", another reaction read.
"If he could but he can't so", a third reaction read.
A section of the public praised Cuban for being willing to take the initiative, asking him to save them from Elon Musk.
"Yes pls pls pls do it we're tired of #that man", a user mentioned.
"Please mark save us from Elon", another reaction stated.
Mark Cuban and Elon Musk have been confronting each other for a long time
While Cuban recently opened up on his desire to purchase Elon's X, the duo are already having issues with each other for some time. Notably, Cuban appeared on The Daily Show last month, claiming that Musk changed the algorithms on the social media platform based on his preferences. He explained by saying:
"When you write an algorithm – I haven't written a lot, it's been a while – but when you write one, you get to set the parameters of what you want to see happen."
Back in 2022, when Elon Musk shared a post prioritizing freedom of speech, Mark Cuban replied with a tweet that read:
"You do realize that you make the decisions on how 'Truths' are amplified or suppressed on this platform? That you create the most chaos when it comes to what is factual or not because your posts get the most amplification?"
However, Musk did not remain silent as Mark Cuban continued criticizing him. On one occasion this year, the former also described Cuban as an "insufferable tool" in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Musk has not responded to Cuban's statement in the Wired interview, and so, further updates on the same are currently awaited.
