On Wednesday, December 18, the bodycam footage from Karen Huger's arrest in March was made public. Prosecutors claimed that she was intoxicated, with body camera evidence that showed the Real Housewives of Potomac star stumbling, refusing a breathalyzer, and claiming to be "Thomas Jefferson's concubine," as per Fox 5 DC on December 19.
This happened after a violent crash on March 19, 2024, which resulted in Karen Huger's conviction on several charges, including DUI. As per the footage, she also displayed strange conduct and verbally attacked the first responders at the scene.
Meanwhile, once the video was uploaded on Instagram on December 19, by @theneighborhoodtalk, netizens rushed to the comment section to express their opinions. Many condemned her for drinking and driving. One user said:
"I can't believe she got behind the wheel of a car this drunk."

On the other hand, many netizens praised her husband, Raymond A Huger, for patiently trying to handle the situation and managing Karen. One user said that he was trying his best, while another noted that he was trying hard to protect his wife.
Karen Huger has been convicted of many charges including DUI
A series of tapes were released recently, on December 18, showing the Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger's arrest in March for driving under the influence. The clips showed her angrily attacking the first responders and claiming that she was "Thomas Jefferson's concubine."
Huger was later found guilty by a jury on Wednesday, December 18, of DUI, careless driving, failing to regulate speed to prevent a collision, and failing to notify authorities of an address change. The viral body camera footage was then made public.
During the incident on March 19, she drove her light-colored Maserati off the road, across the median, and into a tree. The bodycam footage captured the scene immediately after the collision. The car appeared severely damaged and was lying burning on a grassy spot by the side of the road.
Huger was observed swaying while standing and ignoring medical staff's attempts to treat her. Eventually, she headed toward an ambulance that was waiting. Meanwhile, another video, made public at the same time, showed Huger being questioned by the authorities at the police station. During the same, she made remarks against an officer, calling him "poor and white."
The bodycam footage was released nine months after Huger crashed her car in Potomac, Maryland. While being questioned, the reality star linked drinking and driving to her anticipation of mourning the loss of her mother around the occasion of Mother's Day, as per Blavity News on December 19. She also entered a not-guilty plea.
Meanwhile, according to Fox 5's December 18 report, one man, who saw the wreckage, claimed in court that the car smelled of alcohol. Two police officers and a volunteer EMT who responded that evening were among the other witnesses who testified in court.
The EMT testified that Huger refused treatment and cursed at the first responders at the scene. After being arrested for DUI, Karen Huger was later found guilty on nearly all of the charges. Meanwhile, Karen Huger’s lawyer A. Scott Bolden, via People on December 18, stated:
“Although we are disappointed in the jury's verdict, we of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case. We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time."
Karen Huger's defense further attributed her behavior after the incident to emotional turmoil. Additionally, her sentencing on January 29 will determine whether she faces jail time.
