The 2024 gothic horror movie Nosferatu was released across the US on December 25, 2024. The movie, directed by Robert Eggers, is considered a remake of the 1922 silent movie Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, which was heavily criticized for apparently having links to the occult, as per an article by Dexerto dated December 25.

The latest movie has again been brought under scrutiny by a TikToker (@mustardseedhannah), who shared a post on the platform comparing the movie's fans to s*xual predators. The post read:

"If you saw Nosferatu and enjoyed it, please recognize the fact that you share a psychological profile with very real s*xual predators."

Several netizens noticed the post and further reacted to this comparison made by the TikToker. Many did not seem to align with the TikToker's perspective. A user wrote on X:

"Can't even watch a monster movie without being called a creep."

Many netizens voiced similar opinions, remarking they intended to enjoy the movie

"Crazy to hate on someone for enjoying a movie," another user tweeted.
"Someone has never seen a vampire movie," commented another one.
"I hate how some people project their opinion on to others.. like let me enjoy the movie in peace," added a tweet.

Several other netizens, too, disagreed with TikToker's statement.

"Please it's not that serious," a user tweeted.
"I imagine this how ppl reacted to the original in 1922 😭," said another one, referring to the silent film.
"I enjoyed it thoroughly so now what I gotta turn myself in to the authorities? Get real," read one tweet.

Exploring the plot of the 2024 movie Nosferatu and more

The 1922 silent film on which the latest Nosferatu is based was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula." IMDB describes the plot of the latest movie as:

"A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake."

In the 2024 movie, Bill Skarsgård plays the character of the vampire Count Orlok, and Lily-Rose Depp essays the role of a young German woman named Ellen Hutter. Other significant cast include Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Emma Corrin.

In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair in November 2024, director Robert Eggers revealed that, at the age of 17, he had created a stage play based on the 1922 movie. He further spoke about how the vampire Count Orlok in the latest movie looked different from the original film.

"This Orlok is more of a folk vampire than any other film version. That means he's a dead person. Folk vampires in some ways are more visually similar to zombies," he said.

In March 2022, BBC gave insights into what the original Nosferatu looked like. Albin Grau, the German artist and producer of the 1922 movie, has original sketches of the vampire, which apparently looked "creepier." Writer Kevin Jackson spoke about the look in his book Constellation of Genius, stating that Orlok "must be the strangest and most hideous leading man in all cinema."

As per a report by SYFY dated December 23, 2024, the film was produced at the Barrandov Studio in Prague. The outlet further reported that about 60 sets were built to give a realistic look as much as possible.

As of now, the 2024 movie has received an IMDB rating of 7.8/10 and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. The worldwide release of Nosferatu is set to be on January 1, 2025.
