Tom Hanks made an appearance on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, on Saturday, December 21. The 68-year-old actor was joined by several other celebrities including Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Wiig, and John Mulaney.
However, Hanks' appearance seemingly gave rise to concerns surrounding his health. Fans noticed that Hanks, who was a part of the show to support host Martin Short, had trembling hands.
While the Oscar-winning actor had his hands clasped together most of the time, they shook while he lifted the props including cocktail glasses. Netizens soon took to X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing concerns about the actor's health.
Many users, however, mocked the actor and even referred to him being worried about being named on Epstein lists. A user tweeted:
"Common symptom in Epstein clients."
Another user wrote:
"He’s clearly worried about the Epstein and Diddy lists being released."
"He’s just nervous about coming back to the United States. He knows," commented a netizen.
"Just worried about that list, nothing at all to see there 👀," wrote another one.
As aforementioned, some netizens had shown genuine concerns regarding his health. A user added:
"I do not like him, but I hope he is ok."
"Is Tom Hanks OK?" asked another one.
Tom Hanks' trembling hands had previously sparked health concerns
This wasn't the first time that the actor's trembling hands were noticed. In June 2022, while Tom Hanks was in the New York City. The Mail reported that he didn't just have a shaking arm but also a slender frame.
The outlet then reported that the actor was known for his strict preparation schedules for his movies. However, they couldn't confirm if Hanks' look was a part of such a schedule. He had previously lost several pounds for films like Philadelphia and Castaway.
The actor was also seen in the same state with his trembling hands when he attended the Elvish biopic promotional event. At the time, a doctor claimed that the shakey hands could be an early sign of Parkinson's. Dr. Stuart Fischer then told The Mail:
"Parkinson's would be uppermost in most physicians' minds. This trembling hand can be an early sign of the disease."
Dr. Fischer spoke about another possibility too. He stated:
"The other condition it could be is an essential tremor, but this usually occurs at a younger age - although it can be worsened by anxiety and stress."
Upon being asked if the sign could anyway be related to Hanks' diabetes, Dr. Fischer dismissed it and claimed that he had never heard of such a symptom of type 2 diabetes. For the unversed, Hanks first went public with his diabetes diagnosis back in 2013.
In a 2022 interview with the Radio Times, Tom Hanks expressed feeling like a "total idiot" about his self-care before the diabetes diagnosis happened.
"I’m part of the lazy American generation that has blindly kept dancing through the party and now finds ourselves with a malady," said the actor.
The outlets have tried to reach out to Tom Hanks' representatives after the current clip about his trembling hands went viral.
