"Cringe photo op" — Internet reacts to Tim Walz handing Kamala Harris bag of Doritos after criticism over her 2016 anecdote

Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have once again become the topic of internet debate. Walz shared a video on his X in which he was seen handing a packet of Doritos to Kamala Harris. The video was shot at a local convenience store in Pennsylvania when the duo was on their campaign trail. Her running mate shared the video with the caption,

“Every road trip needs a snack break. Doritos acquired. I got you, @KamalaHarris.”

This video came after Kamala Harris shared an anecdote from the 2016 elections. On the day when Donald Trump won, Harris went home, sat on the couch, and ate a family-sized bag of Doritos while she watched the TV in complete shock. She did not share the chips with anybody, not even with her husband, Doug. The email campaign that included this anecdote also added,

“Two things are true eight years later: I still love Doritos and we still have not stopped fighting.”

Tim Walz's post went viral on the internet, and X users replied with a multitude of reactions. Many criticized the entire scene as "cringe." Others tried to find the reason behind shooting the video.

Some X users hinted at the rising prices of products, including Doritos. Others criticized Tim Walz regarding health choices.

Kamala Harris said that she could not have got a better running partner than Tim Walz

On August 15, a conversational video between Kamala Harris and Tim Walz was released on YouTube. The Vice President shared a video clip on her X page and wrote that she couldn't have a better running partner than Walz. In the video, Kamala Harris said that she had called Tim Walz to tell him he had been chosen as her running partner, but he did not pick up the call.

“I called you, Tim. I called you, Tim. You didn’t answer, Tim,” said Kamala Harris.

On August 17, the Vice President shared a list of plans she wanted to fulfill, like new tax relief for families. She also planned to provide first-time homebuyers $25,000 to help them with the down payment.

Harris also looks forward to strengthening the penalties for price surcharging on groceries, gas, and other essential items. Tim Walz shared her post on X and wrote that this was what an ideal economy suiting everyone looked like.
