As the upcoming presidential election approaches, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris sat for an interview with Fox News on October 16, 2024. The interview garnered a massive viewership, reportedly reaching around 8 million viewers.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump's town hall attracted only about 3 million viewers. Harris' interview with Bret Baier has become the most viewed of this election season.
This interview, aired on Wednesday, reportedly surpassed several other popular interviews of the season, including the CBS News' 60 Minutes primetime special featuring both Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. This interview reportedly drew a little over 5 million viewers.
Another popular interview, which was surpassed by the recent Fox News one, was CNN's joint interview with Harris and Walz, which allegedly gained about 6.3 million viewers. Meanwhile, netizens flooded the internet with reactions to this development. One netizen on X commented:
"Cue the ketchup flying at the walls!"
Here are some popular responses found on X:
"Harris beats Trump in ratings once again. #LetsGo," a netizen wrote.
"Remember back when they were saying she was afraid to do interviews?" added a tweet.
"Oooo you know the orange man is going to be so mad! You know how much he loves numbers and ratings 🤣🤣," commented another user.
While a lot of Harris' supporters praised her, many netizens felt otherwise after the Fox News interview. A user tweeted:
"And.. she was soooo awful!!!!"
"Not the flex you think it is," wrote another one.
"Yes because it was such a rare event…a tv interview, honestly," commented a netizen on X.
More than 800,000 viewers of Kamala Harris' Fox News interview belonged to the 25-54 age group
As mentioned, the latest Fox News interview of Kamala Harris has become the most viewed one of the election season this year. During the interview, Baier asked the Vice President several questions regarding immigration records and her far-left inclination in framing policies.
Kamala Harris also faced questions related to being aware of Joe Biden's reported "mental decline." The interviewer asked:
"You told many interviewers that Joe Biden was on his game, that [he] ran around circles on his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties appeared diminished?"
Harris took a brief pause before responding:
"Joe Biden, I have watched from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and the experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people."
When pressed on the topic even more, Harris said to Baier that "Biden wasn't on ballot but Donald Trump was."
Elsewhere in the interview, Kamala Harris expressed that her presidency would not be a "continuation" of that of current President Joe Biden. According to Harris, she would take a different approach to several issues, like housing and small businesses.
The US presidential elections are scheduled to take place on November 5, 2024.
