UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson murder suspect Luigi Mangione has now got a new attorney, Marc Agnifilo, in his team. What is notable about Agnifilo is that he is also representing Sean "Diddy" Combs in the s*x trafficking case. Not just Marc, but his wife Karen Friedman Agnifilo who once was a prosecutor will also represent Luigi.

According to The Hindustan Times, Luigi was shifted to Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center on Thursday, December 19, 2024, where Diddy has also been detained.

After Luigi was escorted to the courtroom in New York City, Karen and Marc also walked to the court as per a CNN report. It has further been mentioned that Karen had been representing Luigi Mangione since the weekend when the suspect was still at the Pennsylvania detention center.

On December 4, the fatal shooting that killed the CEO took place. On December 9, the suspect, Luigi Mangione was detained after he was recognized in Altoona at a McDonald's. As per reports by CBS News, a massive manhunt was conducted to find and detain the suspected shooter.

Luigi Mangione has been charged with four additional federal offenses on Thursday

The latest updates about the Brian Thompson murder suspect, Luigi Mangione, would be that he has now been charged with four federal offenses, including using a firearm with a silencer, stalking, and murder through the use of a firearm.

The suspect reportedly waived extradition on Thursday, December 19, 2024, and was transferred to New York City from Pennsylvania. According to Rolling Stone, the suspect would now face indictment covering the first and second-degree murder charges as well as one count of "act of terrorism."

Thomas Dickey, who has also been representing Luigi Mangione, had previously challenged all extradition attempts. On December 11, in an interview, he said:

"We’re challenging the extradition at this point, so we can see some evidence and get a little more detailed information about the charges against Luigi."

The suspected shooter then stayed at the Huntingdon State Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania. While Dickey attempted to challenge the extradition attempts, New York Governor Kathy Hochul wanted to facilitate it. On December 12, Hochul said:

"I want to get [Mangione] back here in the State of New York and run him through our criminal justice system."

Another aspect of Luigi Mangione's extradition that caught his eye was his perp walk. CNN senior justice correspondent Evan Pérez stated that officials generally "go to extraordinary lengths to avoid perp walks because they are considered prejudicial." The same was, however, not done in Mangione's case.

CNN chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller further stated that the heavy security around Luigi wasn't to ensure that the suspect didn't get harmed, but was to ensure that nobody tried to free him.

On Thursday, Mangione further appeared in the courtroom in lower Manhattan and reportedly didn't enter a plea as of now. If convicted of all the charges, there is a possibility of Mangione facing the death penalty.
