On Tuesday, December 17, an X user named @BGatesIsaPsycho uploaded a compiled video of mass bird migrations captured across New Jersey on the social media platform. The user captioned it:
"New Jersey Residents are now reporting unusual Bird patterns as Thousands of birds migrate from New Jersey. The birds know."
The tweet has since gone viral on X, receiving over 3.8 million views, 28K likes, 7K re-shares, and 3K comments at the time of writing. Netizens are reacting to it to share their opinion about the event. One netizen wrote:
"Do they no do this every late fall?"
Some netizens claim the formation of the migrating birds to be some "language," while others believe they're confused because of the atmosphere.
"The formation is language," commented an X user.
"It is like the major 7 plagues. First came the drones, now the birds are migrating in masses. What is next? Locust infestation?" replied a second one.
"Hey I live in Maryland and I have seen weird bird patterns, too. This is my yard. I think something in the atmosphere is making them confused. Have seem to be flying in circles," posted another one.
Meanwhile, other netizens are dismissing it as being anything unusual, claiming that mass aviation migration isn't "new at all." One of them even commented that a pole reverse was a bigger cause of concern than bird migration.
"Gosh, this is almost as bad as chemtrail conspiracies. Did you never look up in the 1980s or 1990s? The bird populations have increased, but mass avian migration isn't new at all. It would have been truly incredible 500 years ago," added another user.
"Winter migration is unusual? There's enough actual unusual stuff going on. No need to post bs," commented a netizen on X.
"Chill dog. Even if abnormal we are in an odd state where the poles are moving towards Russia like really fast. Geomagnetic sun activity is pretty wild this year which disturbs the Schuman Resonance that birds attune to for navigation. I'd be more concerned about a pole reverse," wrote another.
"hilarious, they are all looking at the sky lately b/c of the drones, so now they see bird migrations that they never paid attention to. wtf," added a netizen.
The suspicion around bird migration in New Jersey occurs around the same time as the state residents reporting drone sightings at a high rate.
Alejandro Mayorkas confirmed the drone sightings in New Jersey on Sunday
According to radio station New Jersey 101.5, on Sunday, December 15, Alejandro Mayorkas, the US Secretary of Homeland Security - appeared on ABC's This Week. On the show, Mayorkas confirmed the suspicions of New Jersey's residents by telling George Stephanopoulos:
"There's no question that people are seeing drones... Some of the drone sightings are, in fact, drones. Some are manned aircraft that are commonly mistaken for drones. And we do see duplicative reporting. But there's no question that drones are being sighted."
Mayorkas went on to say that there was no evidence of any foreign involvement in the state's drone sightings. The secretary added that the state should be given the authority to intercept drones.
According to NJ101.5, it is legal to fly drones in New Jersey. However, since mid-November, the residents of the state have seen drones that are too large for personal use, with some of them allegedly being the size of a car.
Meanwhile, Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, also appeared on Stephanopoulos' show, telling the reporter that his wife and he also sighted a drone over their home last Friday (December 13).
When George asked him if the "mass hysteria" was to blame for the numerous sightings, the governor blamed Mayorkas, claiming that he wasn't "answering the questions," adding:
"To say this is not unusual activity is just wrong. I've lived in New Jersey my whole life. This is the first time I've noticed drones over my house."
Per the commercial radio station, between December 3-13, over 5,000 drone sightings were reported to the FBI's tip line, out of which only 100 were deemed credible enough to warrant additional investigation.
