Oscar Mayer's Wienermobile is commonly spotted across various locations in the United States and the mobile recently garnered a lot of attention after it was involved in a crash on July 22, 2024, in Illinois. According to the Illinois State Police's statement to USA TODAY, the crash occurred at approximately 11:12 am on a highway in Cook County.

As per USA TODAY, the Oscar Meyer Wienermobiel struck a Hyundai Sedan travelling north and lost control resulting in the Wienermobile rolling onto the sedan's side.

While the people present inside the mobile didn't sustain injuries, images of the crash that went viral on social media platforms show that the Wienermobile was towed away on a flatbed truck after the crash. Some visible damage was seen on some parts of the mobile.

Fans of the famous American meat and cold-cut producer were quick to react to the news of the Wienermobile getting toppled and took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinion. One of the internet users joked about the situation and said:

"Everybody in the vehicle was covered in ketchup."
"Just a week after national hot dog day 😢" another person said.
"It’s okay.. we all have a bad wiener day or two," one person joked.

Additionally, one of the fans of the food brand also took a dig at the situation by commenting:

"Send @MrPeanut and the PeanutMobile to scoop them."
"Good thing it’s probably all just fiberglass lol," one X user wrote.
"To be clear: this is the mini @Wienermobile which operates on a Mini Cooper build and is used much more rarely than its larger sister fleet of full-sized vehicles" annother X user clarified that the Wienermobile which toppled was not the same as the large sized Osar Mayer mobiles

"It was okay when I parked it" - Al Roker jokes about the recent Oscar Mayer Wienermobile accident

Apart from fans of Oscar Mayer, American weathercaster and journalist Al Roker also had something to say about the food brand's Wienermobile accident. On July 24, 2024, Al Roker took to Instagram to take a dig at the Wienermobile, getting toppled and sharing a photo of himself inside the mobile. The caption read:

"I heard about the @oscarmayer #weinermobile accident. All I know is, it was okay when I parked it."

According to Oscar Mayer's press release, the food brand mentioned that they are grateful that everyone involved in the accident was safe and there weren't any injuries. The packaged meat producer also mentioned in their press release:

“We’re offering ongoing support for our Hotdoggers, and we appreciate the support we’ve received from local authorities.”

The people who ride inside the Wienermobiles are referred to as hotdoggers by the food brand.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was launched in 1936 and became a prominent part of the food brand's identity. However, in May 2023, the American meat and cold-cut producer announced that it would be changing the Wienermobile's name to Frankmobile as a homage to their 100% beef franks.

However, the new name didn't sit right with Oscar Mayer fans and in September 2023, the food brand took to Instagram to announce that they were changing the mobile's name back to Wienermobile given many of the fans missed it.
