Amid the Olympics 2024, claims of Japan's football coach being named Light Yagami have been made. His name was mentioned as the Death Note character in a viral post which had a photo where he could be seen writing something in a notebook.
This confused a number of people, who speculated that the man was actually named after the character. However, the rumor is untrue and hence should be debunked. The person in the photo is actually Hajime Moriyasu.
Fandomwire further claimed that the photo was, in fact, from 2022, but it resurfaced during the 2024 Olympics. The coach reportedly gained the name after Japan defeated Germany and Spain in the FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022.
While the rumor can be debunked, netizens came up with a wide range of responses after the photo went viral. One user tweeted:
"It's over for other countries in the Olympics."
"Bro he's already writing names 😭," added another one.
55-year-old Hajime Moriyasu had coached several teams in Japan for a number of tournaments. He was a coach for the national youth team who were participants in the 2006 AFC Youth Championship and the 2007 U-20 World Cup.
