A recent TikTok video has been circulating on social media, claiming that U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris appeared intoxicated, or "hammered," during a campaign event earlier this week.

On September 23, 2024, a TikTok user, @theredpillpatriot, posted a video suggesting Vice President Kamala Harris appeared intoxicated during a recent speech. The video depicts Harris speaking at a slow pace, leading viewers to speculate she was under the influence and struggling to articulate her thoughts.

The user claimed that the Vice President was "hammered." However, this claim has since been proven to be untrue. The video shared by the TikTok user was edited, with the original footage taken from a campaign event held in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 20, 2024. The unedited version is available on Vice President Kamala Harris' official YouTube channel, where it was streamed live.

As previously stated, the claim made by TikTok user @theredpillpatriot, alleging that Vice President Kamala Harris was under the influence of a substance, has been proven false. The video in question, which first surfaced on Monday, was captioned by the user as:

"She is hammered. This is insane!"

The user stated in the video that Kamala Harris often relies on notes or pre-scripted responses during interviews and claimed that Harris is "sloshed."

"You cannot tell me this woman is not hammered. When this woman is sober, she needs notes to get through an interview, and nine times out of ten, they're scripted. This is who y'all want running this country? She is absolutely sloshed," the user claimed.

The claims are untrue for several reasons. One key factor is that the user later uploaded another video on TikTok on September 23, 2024, admitting the original video of Kamala Harris was edited and slowed down merely for entertainment purposes. The user made unsubstantiated remarks suggesting that the U.S. Vice President has underlying issues, though these claims were presented without supporting evidence.

Furthermore, additional evidence confirming the video as fabricated and misleading is the availability of the original, unaltered footage of Kamala Harris delivering the same speech at a campaign event in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 20, 2024. This unedited video can be viewed on Vice President Harris' official YouTube channel at the 16:52 timestamp, where she delivers the same speech at her normal pace. The specific statement in question reads as follows:

"On the other side of my, you know the the the the the other folks Trump and his running mate, and they will talk about yeah but I, you know, I I I do believe in the exception to save the mother's life. Okay, let's break that down, shall we?" Harris said.

Another piece of evidence comes from a post by user @TrueJMitchell on X, who shared the same video originally posted by TikTok user @theredpillpatriot, with the caption:

"The Red Pill Patriot has something to say about drunk Kamala Harris."

In response, X's Community Notes provided a fact-check reply, presenting evidence that the clip had been altered. They also included a link to the original, unedited video, further debunking the claim.

It remains unclear who originally created the slowed-down version of the video. One commenter under @theredpillpatriot's post inquired about the source and motive behind the video's alteration, to which @theredpillpatriot responded, claiming they did not edit the footage but found it. Vice President Kamala Harris has not yet addressed the circulating video clip.

According to POLITICO, Kamala Harris' speech on September 20, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, was merely revolving around abortion rights and the impact of restrictive laws on women's healthcare. The speech was part of Harris's broader campaign to mobilize voters around the issue of abortion rights, framing it as a critical issue in the upcoming elections.
