Haliey Welch, popularly known as the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ on the internet, recently made headlines after she exclusively told TMZ during a brief interview that rapper Yung Gravy slid into her DMs and asked her out on a date.
“He wants to take me on a date. I was like, ‘Nah, I don’t know about that,’” she claimed.
In the wake of her statement, the internet is having diverse reactions. For instance, X user @positionsmafiaa commented on Pop Crave’s post on X by writing:
Several others reacted to Yung Gravy sliding into Haliey Welch’s DMs and shared similar opinions, trolling both the Minnesota rapper and the Hawk Tuah Girl.
“HELP, she rejected that flop,” a person wrote.
“Yung G always shooting his shot,” one person wrote.
“Wow, a date offer from Yung Gravy via DM—such a groundbreaking moment! Who knew that sliding into DMs could be so revolutionary?” another person wrote.
Others mocked the internet sensation and called her a “clout chaser” and “industry plant,” among other things.
“The biggest industry plant of all time,” one netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, some praised Welch for turning down Yung Gravy and acknowledging the same during an interview.
“She is using her 5 mins right,” an individual wrote.
“Good for her! She's got standards, and that's what we like to see!” another individual wrote.
In the TMZ interview, Haliey Welch claimed that stand-up comedian, actress, and podcaster Whitney Cummings had also slid into her DMs. She added that despite her online fame, she was still a Tennessee girl.
Besides, she introduced her attorney, who shared that they would “protect her “likeness at all costs” and would go after anyone trying to steal her “trademarks.”
All you need to know about the Hawk Tuah Girl
In June, YouTuber duo Tim and Dee posted an Instagram Reel of one of their late-night Q&A sessions with random people on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee. During the interview, they asked two women an NSFW question:
"What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?"
In response, one of the women, Haliey Welch, quipped:
"Oh, you gotta give him that 'hawk tuah' and spit on that thang, you get me?"
In the wake of her unusual and explicit answer, clubbed with her Southern accent and playful stress on the term ‘Hawk Tuah,’ she became an overnight internet sensation and came to be known as the Hawk Tuah Girl.
Since then, she has seen her share of the limelight and traveled across the country, from visiting Hollywood to New York City recently for a New York Mets game opposite Oakland Athletics, where she threw the first pitch.
For those unaware, the expression 'Hawk Tuah' is used as an onomatopoeia and refers to the sound a person makes while collecting saliva and then spitting it out.
