Sports columnist Skip Bayless is getting called out on X after opining that Lil Wayne should have been selected to take the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. This comes after the NFL announced that Kendrick Lamar would be performing at the Super Bowl LIX this year. Lil Wayne himself seemingly extended support to K. Dot in the meantime.

On January 13, Skip Bayless took to his X account to tweet:

“Sorry, Lil Wayne should obviously be the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans.”

The former Fox Sports journalist was alluding to Lil Wayne being the preferred performer on the legendary stage, considering that New Orleans, Louisiana, where the Super Bowl is taking place, is his hometown.

Meanwhile, Skip Bayless made headlines earlier this month after a woman who worked as a hairstylist for Fox Sports alleged that the former made repeated unwanted advances towards her, including offering her $1.5 million to engage in s*x with him. Netizens have since taken to X to react to Bayless’ tweet, with one X user saying:

The platform user was referring to the lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s record-breaking Drake-diss track Not Like Us, where K. Dot crooned about Drizzy’s associate Baka Not Nice allegedly forcing a 22-year-old woman into pr*stitution, as per Complex's May 2024 report. Lyrics read:

“They tell me Chubbs the only one that gets your hand-me-downs/ And Party at the party playin’ with his nose now/ And Baka got a weird case, why is he around?”

Meanwhile, several others took to X to address Skip Bayless’ tweet. Comments online read:

“That’s the last thing you need to worry about Skip,” an X user said.
“Skip, sit this one out,” another netizen said.
“How about no,” another person said.

Multiple others shared online that Bayless is sharing his opinions on the matter too late, as the NFL had announced in September 2024 that K. Dot would be performing at the Halftime Show.

“Bro this debate was over months ago let it go,” an X user said.
“Bro is on Internet explorer time,” another netizen said.
“You’re late we’re done with that discourse go back in the house skip,” a platform user said.

Meanwhile, several others shared that they agreed with Skip Bayless.

“This is not a hot take. No need to apologize,” an X user said.
“I agree,” another internet user said.

“I wished him all the best”- Lil Wayne seemingly extended support to Kendrick Lamar on The Skip Bayless Show

After Lil Wayne expressed disappointment over not being chosen to perform at the Halftime Show, he eventually shared on The Skip Bayless Show in December 2024 that he wished K. Dot luck for his upcoming appearance at the NFL. Wayne said:

“I’ve spoken to him, and I wished him all the best, and I told him he better kill it.”

Kendrick Lamar was chosen to perform at the highly anticipated sports game after a successful run in 2024 that included his highly publicized rap feud against Drake and the drop of his surprise GNX album, along with a tour announcement.

K. Dot went on to address the Halftime Show drama in his wacced out murals GNX album track where he crooned:

“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”

Wayne also addressed the lyrics later on The Skip Bayless Show. He said:

“I think he just means… his hard work is the reason why he made it there and obviously ‘let me down’ is just me being upset.”

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar will be performing at the Halftime Show on February 9.
