On Christmas Eve, Reardon revealed that he had been recovering from tonsil cancer, marking his first public acknowledgment of the diagnosis. The Canadian actor posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, accompanied by two photos, one of his current self and one of him in a hospital bed.
"Last night was my first night out after my recovery from tonsil cancer. Has been a long road between these two pictures and the difference is from the love and support I received from my people in my life," he wrote in the caption.
John Reardon, 49, expressed gratitude to the family and friends who stood by him during this challenging time. He acknowledged the significant roles his loved ones played in his recovery and credited their kindness as a key factor in his healing.

Reardon also expressed gratitude for his father, who supported him by taking daily walks with him, even when it was difficult for the actor to get out of bed and emotionally challenging for his father to witness his son's pain.
He further acknowledged his mother's efforts to prepare nourishing meals and his siblings' assistance with everyday challenges.
"My Mom @ocean__cottage who made me soups and ginger honey tea and green juices so I could get calories into my body. My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon @marcreardon81 who helped with the kids and the challenges of life when I couldn't."
Beyond his immediate family, Reardon acknowledged the support he received from his in-laws, as he praised their generosity and care during his difficult journey.
"All my in-laws, who are not just in-laws they are family, who brought food and cookies and talked through challenges with us," the actor wrote.
John Reardon also extended heartfelt thanks to his nanny, neighbors, medical professionals, and everyone who offered food, love, support, kind messages, or care during his recovery, calling them his "heroes."
