On Christmas Eve, Reardon revealed that he had been recovering from tonsil cancer, marking his first public acknowledgment of the diagnosis. The Canadian actor posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, accompanied by two photos, one of his current self and one of him in a hospital bed.

"Last night was my first night out after my recovery from tonsil cancer. Has been a long road between these two pictures and the difference is from the love and support I received from my people in my life," he wrote in the caption.

John Reardon, 49, expressed gratitude to the family and friends who stood by him during this challenging time. He acknowledged the significant roles his loved ones played in his recovery and credited their kindness as a key factor in his healing.

"My amazing partner @officialmeghanory for taking on our whole world to help me get better. My brave kids who inspired me."

Reardon also expressed gratitude for his father, who supported him by taking daily walks with him, even when it was difficult for the actor to get out of bed and emotionally challenging for his father to witness his son's pain.

He further acknowledged his mother's efforts to prepare nourishing meals and his siblings' assistance with everyday challenges.

"My Mom @ocean__cottage who made me soups and ginger honey tea and green juices so I could get calories into my body. My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon @marcreardon81 who helped with the kids and the challenges of life when I couldn't."

Beyond his immediate family, Reardon acknowledged the support he received from his in-laws, as he praised their generosity and care during his difficult journey.

"All my in-laws, who are not just in-laws they are family, who brought food and cookies and talked through challenges with us," the actor wrote.

Before wishing everyone a happy holiday season, the actor highlighted the importance of kindness, urging others to embrace and spread it.

John Reardon described the virtue of kindness as an "underappreciated quality" that should be celebrated and shared as much as possible.

Reardon's wife, Meghan Ory, also shared her admiration for him. As per Variety's December 25 report, Ory shared John's photo on her Instagram Story and wrote,

"This man inspires me every day with his strength, his kindness, and love that didn't falter once even when he was in insane pain. You are my hero."

John Reardon is widely recognized for his work in Hallmark's Christmas films, including I'll Be Home for Christmas and The Christmas Secret. He has also appeared in shows like When Calls the Heart, Van Helsing, and Cypher. Currently, he stars as Detective Charlie Hudson in Hudson & Rex, a Canadian television series about a police detective and his canine partner.
