Luigi Mangione, the accused in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, appeared at a Pennsylvania court on December 19. During his second appearance, the 26-year-old appeared calm, clean-shaven, and sporting a fresh haircut with seemingly shaped eyebrows.
Maria A. Bivens informed Newsweek via email that Luigi Mangione got his haircut at a barbershop inside the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon on Wednesday before he was extradited to New York. Bivens, who is the press secretary at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, was also asked whether the accused got his eyebrows waxed.
“Waxing is not available at our barber shops. They may have used the clippers, I don't know,” she replied.
Regardless, photographs of Luigi Mangione entering and leaving the Hollidaysburg courthouse after his extradition hearing have gone viral. His eyebrows reportedly appear shaped compared to his previous appearance on December 10.
In the wake of this, the internet is having varied reactions. For instance, X user @Celineroseeee commented on writer-influencer @MediumSizeMeech’s post:

All you need to know about the Luigi Mangione case
UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan on the morning of December 4, around 6:45 am. The 50-year-old executive was on his way to an investor’s meeting when he was killed.
At the time, the NYPD announced a $10,000 reward for information regarding the shooter’s whereabouts. After a five-day manhunt, Luigi Mangione was taken into custody from a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. A restaurant employee reportedly identified him from the viral CCTV footage of the crime and called 911.
He was denied bail while facing five felony charges in Pennsylvania. His lawyer, Thomas Dickey, also fought extradition to New York while he was held at the State Correctional Center, Huntingdon. However, on December 17 he was indicted by a grand jury, and two days later, he waived extradition during his second hearing.
Currently, Luigi Mangione faces 11 state charges filed by the Manhattan district attorney, including terrorism, first-and second-degree murder, weapons possession, and forgery, among others. The Ivy League alum is also facing four new federal charges, including murder, using a weapon with a silencer, and two counts of stalking. If convicted, he could potentially face the death penalty.
During his first court hearing on December 10, Luigi Mangione’s pictures went viral as he was escorted by cops from the patrol car to the Pennsylvania courthouse. Reportedly, he yelled about an "insult to the intelligence of the American people."
However, during his December 19 appearance, he appeared calmer than before and responded with “yes” or “no” to the judge and made zero interaction with the press/public. Later in the day, he was flown to Manhattan.
