DOGE bosses Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy recently got into a spat with some staunch supporters of Donald Trump who were criticizing the H-1B program, a day after Christmas. The program would permit extremely skilled foreign workers to enter the US for companies who have sponsored them.
Several tweets have been posted while the billionaires tried to make their perspective clearer. An X user (@stevenmackeyman) shared a tweet on the platform on December 27.
According to the tweet, he mentioned that while Musk once said that one shouldn't optimize what shouldn't exist, he is now rooting for the H-1B program. Elon Musk soon noticed the tweet, and responded to it. He wrote:
"The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and... companies that made America strong is because of H1B. Take a big step back and F*CK YOURSELF in the face..."
The post has further garnered a huge number of responses on social media as well. Many even referred to the popular dialogue by Tom Cruise in the movie Tropic Thunder, where he said:
"Take A big step back, and literally f*ck your own face."
According to them, Musk didn't use the dialogue correctly in his tweet. A user tweeted:
"He is entitled and thinks he’s above m Americans. He couldn’t even do the Tom Cruise Tropic Thunder quote right."
Another user wrote:
"This man can’t create a single thing of his own. He has to steal from others and pass it off as his work..."
"Did he just rip the line from Tropic Thunder?" questioned a netizen.
Others too highlighted the point that Elon Musk didn't quote the line correctly. A user commented:
"Tries to quote tropic thunder and can’t even do that right."
"You probably shouldn't take a threat stolen from Tropic Thunder too seriously," explained another one.
What is the H-1B program that Elon Musk had been rooting for?
While talking about the H-1B visas currently, it is worth noting more about it. According to the US Department of Labor, the program is applicable to those employers who decide to hire foreign employees in "specialty occupations or as fashion models of distinguished merit and ability."
While Elon Musk and other Trump allies argue on this topic, the upcoming President is yet to intervene between them. According to Musk, legal immigration for those who are actually hardworking and honest, would be helpful for the betterment of the United States. In a tweet, dated December 27, Musk wrote:
"This is the right position for those who want America to win. For those who want America to lose for their own personal gain, I have no respect. Zero."
In another tweet, Musk even compared the US with a sports team that would bring in foreign athletes to ensure that they won. Despite so much criticism, the Tesla CEO had not changed his stance about legal immigration and H-1B visas.
