Comedian John Mulaney recently performed standup at a tech event organized by Salesforce in San Francisco, on September 19, 2024. During the 45-minute set, Mulaney ended up roasting the techies who were attending the event, which was claimed to be the biggest AI event globally. He even described the Salesforce employees as "imminently replaceable."
"You look like a group who looked at the self-checkout counters at CVS and thought, 'This is the future.' If AI is truly smarter than us and tells us that [humans] should die, then I think we should die. So many of you feel imminently replaceable," said Mulaney, addressing the audience during the set.
The brutal set of comedian John Mulaney further included several statements like:
"Let me get this straight. You’re hosting a ‘future of AI’ event in a city that has failed humanity so miserably?"

"Some of the vaguest language ever devised has been used here in the last three days"- John Mulaney roasts in his set
As mentioned before, comedian John Mulaney brutally roasted the techies who were attending the event organized by Salesforce.
From mocking them for choosing a city that had faced issues with housing crisis and an increase in other crimes for a tech event to tapping on the industry's efforts of replacing human employees with AI, Mulaney did it all during his set.
"Some of the vaguest language ever devised has been used here in the last three days. The fact that there are 45,000 ‘trailblazers’ here couldn’t devalue the title anymore," he said.
He even referred to his three-year-old son, stating that the industry ensured that the kid would "never talk to an actual human again." He added that "a little cartoon Einstein will pop up" and give him the answers he needed.
Publications like The San Francisco Standard reported that the audience "groaned" while John Mulaney delivered his brutal set. Elsewhere during the standup performance, he pointed at an individual and asked if they were the VP of customer success. Soon after, Mulaney mocked the position, stating that it "did not exist five years ago."
The comedian's performance at the event made netizens praise him for his brutal honesty in the set mixed with humor.
