Netizens recently reacted to a viral video of former United States President Jimmy Carter celebrating his 100th birthday in his backyard in Plains, Georgia. In the clip, Carter is seen getting wheeled outside to witness a military flyover with four fighter jets, along with his friends and family.

Jimmy Carter, or James Earl Carter Jr., was a member of the Democratic Party and served as the 39th President of the United States of America, between 1977 and 1981. Prior to his Presidential term, he was the Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and a Georgia state senator from 1963 to 1967.

On October 1, 2024, Carter celebrated his 100th birthday, becoming the oldest living President in the history of the United States.

However, Carter looked extremely pale and weak in the 43-second clip going viral on the internet. This has instigated several netizens to share their thoughts on X. While some inquired about his health, others criticized the media for showing him in such a state.

"Jesus f*cking Christ, I was not prepared for how dead he was gonna look. He might just be dead," one user commented on X.

"It's definitely morally wrong to let your loved one live to 100 if they're in that state," opined another netizen.
"Are we sure he actually made it to his 100th birthday?" wrote another.

More X users were fixated on Carter's health.

"This man is there against his will," one user commented.
"Damn he's not being a good spokesman for living to 100," added another.
"I've worked with 100 year olds. Hell, I've worked with people over 100. He looks extremely bad even for 100," tweeted one user.

Many also criticized media agencies for broadcasting Carter on national television and the internet.

"I realize that President Carter is a beloved public figure but I question why he would be shown to the world like this. When my mom was in her final stages of hospice care, my siblings and I didn’t let anyone see her to preserve her dignity," one said.
"As a fan of Jimmy Carter, I think @CBSNews should respect family privacy and not post this. It seems too intimate of a moment to broadcast," agreed another.
"If I’m like this at 100 please don’t put me on national television," declared one user on X.

Donald Trump wasted no time in mocking Jimmy Carter - a Democrat - on his historic 100th birthday. Trump brought up the 39th President of the United States during a speech at a manufacturing plant in Waunakee, Wisconsin on Tuesday, October 1.

The former U.S. President used Carter to mock Joe Biden. According to USA Today, after calling the current President the worst in American history, Trump said:

“Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison.”

Carter has been critical of Donald Trump in the past, slamming him for being "careless with the truth" during a 2018 interview with CBS News. The 100-year-old also brought up this topic in a discussion with The Washington Post that same year.

“I think he’s a disaster, in human rights and in treating people equal,” said Carter.

Shortly after, the late former First Lady Rosalynn Carter chimed in, saying:

“The worst is that he is not telling the truth, and that just hurts everything.”

Jimmy's grandson, Jason Carter, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, in August, that his grandfather wished to stay alive till the 2024 Presidential Elections so that he could vote for Kamala Harris. As per Jason, Jimmy told his son Chip:

"I'm only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris."

With only a few weeks remaining until the U.S. Presidential Election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, both campaigns are entering the final stretch of the relay.

Jimmy Carter lives in Georgia, where the early voting opens up on October 15. Furthermore, no rules in Georgia prohibit votes from being counted if a person dies between the early voting period and the Election day.
