Joseph Budden Jr., popularly known as Joe Budden, was recently charged with lewdness earlier this month. An X account called @TheOctoberFilm shared a screenshot of Budden's arrest history on December 29 along with a caption that read:
“Breaking News: @JoeBudden has a court date on Jan 16th for disorderly lewdness, a charge related to s*xual misconduct or indecency in public. He previously claimed the JBP had to relocate for recording in a residential building, but there seems to be more to the story. Stay tuned.”
Interestingly Joe Budden claimed on his show Joe Budden TV that he is a sleepwalker.
Meanwhile, when the news went viral, fans flooded the comment section of The Neighborhood Talk's Instagram post to react to the same thing. One user wrote, "He said he recently found out he sleep walks."
However, other netizens made fun of Budden and criticized him for his actions. One asked if he was doing dr*gs, while another one suggested that he might be "losing his mind."
Meanwhile, some also suggested the theory of sleepwalking and supported him. One person addressed the users who haven’t watched Budden's podcast on his sleepwalking and said the same.
Joe Budden alleged to be a sleepwalker
After an incident in Edgewater, New Jersey, on December 4, podcaster Joe Budden has reportedly been accused of "s*xual misconduct or indecency in public".
As per a TMZ report from December 31, the Edgewater Police Department released information in a news statement on December 30, 2024. Officers were summoned to an Edgewater apartment complex at around 7:21 am, the statement said, after a resident reported a troubling occurrence.
The caller witnessed their neighbor, Joe Budden Jr., standing outside their apartment door n*de after being alerted by their doorbell camera. As per the same report, authorities said that the footage also reportedly shows him trying to enter a code on a neighbor's door keypad, before going back to his apartment across the hall.
On the other hand, according to All HipHop’s December 31 report, the official statement read:
“The caller was alerted to BUDDEN by their doorbell camera. The video depicted BUDDEN attempting to enter a code into the door keypad several times before reentering his own residence across the hall.”
Meanwhile, the same outlet reported that Edgewater Police Chief Martin stated:
“These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Budden was charged with lewdness, a disorderly persons offense under New Jersey law, after an investigation. However, the police chief's choice to make a public statement was deemed needless and biased by Budden's lawyer, Nima Ameri.
Ameri told TMZ on December 31 that Budden is unhappy with the press release and he has been waiting for the resolution of his cross-complaints against the parties involved.
The arrest came after Budden brought up the matter on The Joe Budden Podcast earlier this month. He explained his condition and blamed sleepwalking for the incident. He further said:
"I just sleepwalked somewhere I shouldn’t have… You know how I sleep—completely naked.”
On the other hand, on January 16, 2025, Joe Budden is expected to appear in court. Meanwhile, Budden has not yet addressed these allegations.
