"If somebody breaks into my house, they're getting shot": Kamala Harris mentioned in latest event with Oprah Winfrey
On September 19, 2024, Oprah Winfrey hosted the "Unite for America" event with an aim to get people to register for voting and also endorse Harris for the upcoming elections. While Kamala Harris and Oprah connected with celebrities like Julia Roberts and Chris Rock remotely and discussed multiple issues at length, the highlight of the event was Harris talking about her gun.
Commenting on when she'd use her weapon, Harris jokingly mentioned:
"If somebody breaks into my house, they're getting shot. I probably shouldn't have said that, but my staff will deal with that later."
It is speculated that Kamala Harris mentioned her gun ownership only to emphasize that she doesn't support a ban on assault weapons as alleged by Donald Trump.
Moreover, as per ABC Chicago on September 11, 2024, Harris had talked about being a gun owner in order to refute Trump's claims about her administration confiscating firearms from Americans during the presidential debate hosted by ABC News. Commenting on the same,
"This business about taking everyone's guns away, Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away."
Apart from Jensen Ackles, celebrities like Billie Eilish, Justin Vernon, John Legend, and Kerry Washington, among many other prominent names, have pledged their support to Harris for the 2024 Presidential elections. Additionally, former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are also endorsing the current Vice President in the upcoming elections.
